The People of Israel did evil in GOD’s sight: they served Baal-gods; they deserted GOD, the God of their parents who had led them out of Egypt; they took up with other gods, gods of the peoples around them. They actually worshiped them! And oh, how they angered GOD as they worshiped god Baal and goddess Astarte! GOD’s anger was hot against Israel: He handed them off to plunderers who stripped them; he sold them cheap to enemies on all sides. They were helpless before their enemies. Every time they walked out the door GOD was with them—but for evil, just as GOD had said, just as he had sworn he would do. They were in a bad way.

And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD, and served Baalim

And they forsook the LORD, and served Baal and Ashtaroth.

Then the sons of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD and served the Baals

So they forsook the LORD and served Baal and the Ashtaroth.

So they did what the LORD said was wrong, and they worshiped the Baal idols.

The Israelites quit following the LORD and worshiped Baal and Ashtoreth.

And the children of Israel did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah, and served the Baalim

And they forsook Jehovah, and served Baal and the Ashtaroth.

Then the Israelites did evil in the eyes of the LORD and served the Baals.

because they forsook him and served Baal and the Ashtoreths.

Then the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD, and served the Baals

They forsook the LORD and served Baal and the Ashtoreths.

Then the Israelites did evil in the sight of the LORD and worshiped and served the Baals

So they abandoned the LORD and served Baal [the pagan god of the Canaanites] and the Ashtaroth.

The Israelites did evil in the LORD’s sight and served the images of Baal.

They abandoned the LORD to serve Baal and the images of Ashtoreth.

The Israelites did what was evil in the sight of YAHWEH and worshiped the images of Baal.

They completely abandoned YAHWEH to serve Baal and the images of the goddess Astarte.

And the people of Israel did what was evil in the sight of the LORD and served the Baals.

They abandoned the LORD and served the Baals and the Ashtaroth.
