Galatians 5:8-9
Galatians 5:7-10 The Message (MSG)
You were running superbly! Who cut in on you, deflecting you from the true course of obedience? This detour doesn’t come from the One who called you into the race in the first place. And please don’t toss this off as insignificant. It only takes a minute amount of yeast, you know, to permeate an entire loaf of bread. Deep down, the Master has given me confidence that you will not defect. But the one who is upsetting you, whoever he is, will bear the divine judgment.
Galatians 5:8-9 King James Version (KJV)
This persuasion cometh not of him that calleth you. A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump.
Galatians 5:8-9 New American Standard Bible - NASB 1995 (NASB1995)
This persuasion did not come from Him who calls you. A little leaven leavens the whole lump of dough.
Galatians 5:8-9 New Century Version (NCV)
This change did not come from the One who chose you. Be careful! “Just a little yeast makes the whole batch of dough rise.”
Galatians 5:8-9 American Standard Version (ASV)
This persuasion came not of him that calleth you. A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump.
Galatians 5:8-9 New International Version (NIV)
That kind of persuasion does not come from the one who calls you. “A little yeast works through the whole batch of dough.”
Galatians 5:8-9 New King James Version (NKJV)
This persuasion does not come from Him who calls you. A little leaven leavens the whole lump.
Galatians 5:8-9 Amplified Bible (AMP)
This [deceptive] persuasion is not from Him who called you [to freedom in Christ]. A little leaven [a slight inclination to error, or a few false teachers] leavens the whole batch [it perverts the concept of faith and misleads the church].
Galatians 5:8-9 New Living Translation (NLT)
It certainly isn’t God, for he is the one who called you to freedom. This false teaching is like a little yeast that spreads through the whole batch of dough!
