“‘If a prophet is deceived and tells these idolaters the lies they want to hear, I, GOD, get blamed for those lies. He won’t get by with it. I’ll grab him by the scruff of the neck and get him out of there. They’ll be equally guilty, the prophet and the one who goes to the prophet, so that the house of Israel will never again wander off my paths and make themselves filthy in their rebellions, but will rather be my people, just as I am their God. Decree of GOD, the Master.’” * * *

And they shall bear the punishment of their iniquity: the punishment of the prophet shall be even as the punishment of him that seeketh unto him

They will bear the punishment of their iniquity; as the iniquity of the inquirer is, so the iniquity of the prophet will be

The prophet will be as guilty as the one who asks him for help; both will be responsible for their guilt.

And they shall bear their iniquity: the iniquity of the prophet shall be even as the iniquity of him that seeketh unto him

False prophets and those who seek their guidance will all be punished for their sins.

Both the prophet and the one who consults him will be equally punished for their guilt.

And they shall bear their punishment—the punishment of the prophet and the punishment of the inquirer shall be alike
