2 Timothy 2:16
2 Timothy 2:16 Amplified Bible (AMP)
But avoid all irreverent babble and godless chatter [with its profane, empty words], for it will lead to further ungodliness
2 Timothy 2:14-18 The Message (MSG)
Repeat these basic essentials over and over to God’s people. Warn them before God against pious nitpicking, which chips away at the faith. It just wears everyone out. Concentrate on doing your best for God, work you won’t be ashamed of, laying out the truth plain and simple. Stay clear of pious talk that is only talk. Words are not mere words, you know. If they’re not backed by a godly life, they accumulate as poison in the soul. Hymenaeus and Philetus are examples, throwing believers off stride and missing the truth by a mile by saying the resurrection is over and done with.
2 Timothy 2:16 King James Version (KJV)
But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.
2 Timothy 2:16 New American Standard Bible - NASB 1995 (NASB1995)
But avoid worldly and empty chatter, for it will lead to further ungodliness
2 Timothy 2:16 New Century Version (NCV)
Stay away from foolish, useless talk, because that will lead people further away from God.
2 Timothy 2:16 American Standard Version (ASV)
But shun profane babblings: for they will proceed further in ungodliness
2 Timothy 2:16 New International Version (NIV)
Avoid godless chatter, because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly.
2 Timothy 2:16 New King James Version (NKJV)
But shun profane and idle babblings, for they will increase to more ungodliness.
2 Timothy 2:16 New Living Translation (NLT)
Avoid worthless, foolish talk that only leads to more godless behavior.
