“Are you listening, dear people? I’m getting ready to speak; Israel, I’m about ready to bring you to trial. This is God, your God, speaking to you. I don’t find fault with your acts of worship, the frequent burnt sacrifices you offer. But why should I want your blue-ribbon bull, or more and more goats from your herds? Every creature in the forest is mine, the wild animals on all the mountains. I know every mountain bird by name; the scampering field mice are my friends. If I get hungry, do you think I’d tell you? All creation and its bounty are mine. Do you think I feast on venison? or drink drafts of goats’ blood? Spread for me a banquet of praise, serve High God a feast of kept promises, And call for help when you’re in trouble— I’ll help you, and you’ll honor me.”

Living life as a kingdom steward is not merely a task; it is a worldview. A worldview is a lens through which you look at all things. Just as a prescription set of glasses made to work with a specific person’s eyes will bring into focus that which had previously been out of focus, kingdom stewardship reveals how the world around us truly is. Stewardship is a concept that isn’t discussed much in modern times, but it’s a Kingdom concept that we all should understand. In this plan, we are breaking down what having a stewardship mindset means for us today and why it is so important.
Money is an essential means of conducting the affairs in our lives. With it, we purchase necessities, pay bills, tithe, support ministries, and give to those in need. As legitimate as these transactions are, it’s worth asking ourselves about our motives and priorities. Do we possess money, or does it possess us? Or better yet, do we manage money wisely since, ultimately, God owns it all (Psalm 50:10)? Let’s do some thinking and praying about our finances this week.
