They left Egypt and went back to their father Jacob in Canaan. When they told him, “Joseph is still alive—and he’s the ruler over the whole land of Egypt!” he went numb; he couldn’t believe his ears. But the more they talked, telling him everything that Joseph had told them and when he saw the wagons that Joseph had sent to carry him back, the blood started to flow again—their father Jacob’s spirit revived. Israel said, “I’ve heard enough—my son Joseph is still alive. I’ve got to go and see him before I die.” * * *

Leaders share a unique challenge in bridging the gap between their public and personal lives. Unrealistic pressures and demands encourage many to hide or minimize their weaknesses and mistakes. Adapted from "The Bulletproof Leader" by Glenn Dorsey, this plan will help you overcome failure through the stories of Biblical figures, and approach the development of a leader as a person complete with faults, failures, and feelings.
Even when our circumstances seem like they are going to defeat us, God is at work. The story of Joseph makes this clear, and examining his life helps us understand what it looks like for our own lives to be devoted to and guided by the Lord. Take this five-day study to see how God’s sovereign providence is always working to bring good out of evil.
