Instruction to Collect Materials
1And Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, 2“Speak to the Israelites,#Literally “sons/children of Israel” and let them bring to me a contribution. You will receive my contribution from every man whose heart prompts him. 3And this is the contribution that you will receive from them—gold and silver and bronze, 4blue, purple, and crimson yarns, and fine linen and goat hair, 5and red-dyed ram skins, and fine leather,#The particular kind of leather is uncertain and acacia wood, 6oil for the lamp, balsam oils for the anointing oil and for the fragrant incense, 7onyx stones and stones for mountings on the ephod and the breast piece. 8And make a sanctuary for me, and I will dwell in the midst of them, 9according to all that I show you—the pattern of the tabernacle and the pattern of all its equipment—and so you will do.
Instructions for Making the Ark of the Covenant
10“And they will make an ark of acacia wood, two and a half cubits its length and a cubit and a half its width and a cubit and a half its height. 11And you will overlay it with pure gold, inside and outside you will overlay it, and you will make on it a gold molding all around. 12And you will cast for it four gold rings, and you will put them on its four feet, with two rings on its one side and two rings on its second side. 13And you will make poles of acacia wood, and you will overlay them with gold. 14And you will put the poles into the rings on the sides of the ark to carry the ark with them. 15In the rings of the ark will be the poles; they will not be removed from it.#Literally “they will not turn aside from it” 16And you will put into the ark the testimony that I will give to you.
17“And you will make an atonement cover of pure gold, two and a half cubits its length and a cubit and a half its width. 18And you will make two cherubim of gold; you will make them of hammered work at the two ends of the atonement cover. 19And make one cherub at one end#Literally “from end from this” and one cherub at the other end#Literally “from end from this” of the atonement cover; you will make the cherubim on its two ends. 20And the cherubim will be with outspread wings above, covering with their wings over the atonement cover and facing each other;#Literally “and their faces a man to his brother” the faces of the cherubim will be toward the atonement cover. 21And you will put the atonement cover above onto the ark, and into the ark you will put the testimony that I will give you. 22And I will meet you there, and I will speak with you from over the atonement cover, from between the two cherubim that are to be on the ark of the testimony—all that I will command you to the Israelites.#Literally “sons/children of Israel”
Instructions for Making a Table and a Lampstand
23“And you will make a table of acacia wood, two cubits its length and a cubit its width and a cubit and a half its height. 24And you will overlay it with pure gold, and you will make for it a gold molding all around. 25And you will make for it a handbreadth rim all around, and you will make a gold molding for its rim all around. 26And you will make four gold rings for it, and you will put the rings on the four corners where its four legs#Literally “feet” are. 27The rings will be near the rim as holders#Literally “houses” for poles to carry the table. 28And you will make the poles of acacia wood and overlay them with gold, and the table will be carried with them. 29And you will make its plates and its ladles#Or “bowls” and its pitchers and its bowls with which libations will be poured; of pure gold you will make them. 30And you will put on the table the bread of presence to be before me continually.
31“And you will make a lampstand of pure gold; the lampstand will be made of hammered work—its base and its branch,#Or “reed” its cups, its buds, and its blossoms will be from it. 32And six branches will be going out from its sides, three branches of the lampstand from its one side and three branches of the lampstand from its second side. 33Three almond-flower cups will be on the one branch with a bud and a blossom, and three almond-flower cups will be on the one branch with a bud and a blossom—likewise for the six branches going out from the lampstand. 34And on the lampstand will be four almond-flower cups, with its buds and its blossoms. 35And a bud will be under the two branches that come from it, and a bud under the two branches from it, and a bud under the two branches from it, likewise for the six branches coming out from the lampstand. 36Their buds and their branches will be from it, all of it one piece of pure gold hammered work. 37And you will make its seven lamps, and its lamps will be set up, and it will give light in the space in front of it.#Literally “on beyond its face” 38And its snuffers and its fire pans will be pure gold. 39It will be made from a talent of pure gold, with all these pieces of equipment. 40And see and make all according to their pattern, which you were shown in the mountain.

1 The LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 2“Speak to the children of Israel, that they take an offering for me. From everyone whose heart makes him willing you shall take my offering. 3This is the offering which you shall take from them: gold, silver, bronze, 4blue, purple, scarlet, fine linen, goats’ hair, 5rams’ skins dyed red, sea cow hides,#25:5 or, fine leather acacia wood, 6oil for the light, spices for the anointing oil and for the sweet incense, 7onyx stones, and stones to be set for the ephod and for the breastplate. 8Let them make me a sanctuary, that I may dwell amongst them. 9According to all that I show you, the pattern of the tabernacle, and the pattern of all of its furniture, even so you shall make it.
10“They shall make an ark of acacia wood. Its length shall be two and a half cubits,#25:10 A cubit is the length from the tip of the middle finger to the elbow on a man’s arm, or about 18 inches or 46 centimetres. its width a cubit and a half, and a cubit and a half its height. 11You shall overlay it with pure gold. You shall overlay it inside and outside, and you shall make a gold moulding around it. 12You shall cast four rings of gold for it, and put them in its four feet. Two rings shall be on the one side of it, and two rings on the other side of it. 13You shall make poles of acacia wood, and overlay them with gold. 14You shall put the poles into the rings on the sides of the ark to carry the ark. 15The poles shall be in the rings of the ark. They shall not be taken from it. 16You shall put the covenant which I shall give you into the ark. 17You shall make a mercy seat of pure gold. Two and a half cubits shall be its length, and a cubit and a half its width. 18You shall make two cherubim of hammered gold. You shall make them at the two ends of the mercy seat. 19Make one cherub at the one end, and one cherub at the other end. You shall make the cherubim on its two ends of one piece with the mercy seat. 20The cherubim shall spread out their wings upward, covering the mercy seat with their wings, with their faces towards one another. The faces of the cherubim shall be towards the mercy seat. 21You shall put the mercy seat on top of the ark, and in the ark you shall put the covenant that I will give you. 22There I will meet with you, and I will tell you from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubim which are on the ark of the covenant, all that I command you for the children of Israel.
23“You shall make a table of acacia wood. Its length shall be two cubits, and its width a cubit, and its height one and a half cubits. 24You shall overlay it with pure gold, and make a gold moulding around it. 25You shall make a rim of a hand width around it. You shall make a golden moulding on its rim around it. 26You shall make four rings of gold for it, and put the rings in the four corners that are on its four feet. 27The rings shall be close to the rim, for places for the poles to carry the table. 28You shall make the poles of acacia wood, and overlay them with gold, that the table may be carried with them. 29You shall make its dishes, its spoons, its ladles, and its bowls with which to pour out offerings. You shall make them of pure gold. 30You shall set bread of the presence on the table before me always.
31“You shall make a lamp stand of pure gold. The lamp stand shall be made of hammered work. Its base, its shaft, its cups, its buds, and its flowers shall be of one piece with it. 32There shall be six branches going out of its sides: three branches of the lamp stand out of its one side, and three branches of the lamp stand out of its other side; 33three cups made like almond blossoms in one branch, a bud and a flower; and three cups made like almond blossoms in the other branch, a bud and a flower, so for the six branches going out of the lamp stand; 34and in the lamp stand four cups made like almond blossoms, its buds and its flowers; 35and a bud under two branches of one piece with it, and a bud under two branches of one piece with it, and a bud under two branches of one piece with it, for the six branches going out of the lamp stand. 36Their buds and their branches shall be of one piece with it, all of it one beaten work of pure gold. 37You shall make its lamps seven, and they shall light its lamps to give light to the space in front of it. 38Its snuffers and its snuff dishes shall be of pure gold. 39It shall be made of a talent#25:39 A talent is about 30 kilograms or 66 pounds or 965 Troy ounces of pure gold, with all these accessories. 40See that you make them after their pattern, which has been shown to you on the mountain.
