SUN APOCALIPSIS 10:1

Revelation is not only a forecast of the future. It spoke to the church in John's day. It speaks to the church in our day. Revelation has a meaning and a message for us every day. This study will explore Revelation 8-11.

Exiled on the island of Patmos, John wrote the book of Revelation to seven churches in the Roman province of Asia. The book opens with encouragement and warnings for the seven churches and is followed by a series of end-times visions. Revelation’s powerful imagery assures believers of Jesus’ coming return, His triumph over all His enemies, and the establishment of His kingdom that will know no end.

This month focuses on Revelation 8–11, where the seven trumpets unfold God’s warnings and judgments. These passages echo the plagues of Exodus, the calls to repentance in Joel, the battle imagery of Joshua 6, and the prophetic vision of Zechariah 4. Together they reveal God’s justice, His patience, and His call for the world to turn to Him. As you read, notice how the trumpets intensify while still offering mercy, culminating in the seventh trumpet declaring Christ’s ultimate kingdom.

The Revelation of Jesus Christ is a book about what will happen in the future; but perhaps more importantly, it’s a book about who controls the future. More than sixty years after Jesus rose from the dead, He appears once again to His disciple John to tell him about the things to come. John sees Jesus in a whole new way: He is now risen, glorified, and clearly in charge of the universe. Jesus is Lord of everyone, everywhere, forever. The question for you and me is whether we will trust Him with our lives, believing that He holds both the present and the future in His all-powerful and loving hands.
