Most of us aren’t familiar with the role of high priest, so Jesus being described that way in scripture seems rather unremarkable – just another of His many titles. But Godfrey Mmagawo has experienced otherwise. In this four-day plan, he shares how an easily overlooked piece of ancient Jewish culture has major implications for how we engage with culture today.

While the Old Testament priest advocated for the people before God, he was still a sinner. Christ, on the other hand, is our sinless high priest who has nevertheless walked in our shoes, experienced our temptations, and felt an earned and complete sympathy for us. He is not only priest but sacrifice, purchasing our forgiveness; and not only does He forgive, but His Spirit transforms us. He is indeed a Great High Priest!

All of Christianity rests on this one single truth – Jesus Christ was raised from the dead. Because He lives, you can count yourself fully alive to God, no longer mastered by sin, but living through the power of grace.
