Psalms 37
37
By David.
1Do not fret because of evil doers, Be not envious against doers of iniquity,
2For as grass speedily they are cut off, And as the greenness of the tender grass do fade.
3Trust in Jehovah, and do good, Dwell [in] the land, and enjoy faithfulness,
4And delight thyself on Jehovah, And He giveth to thee the petitions of thy heart.
5Roll on Jehovah thy way, And trust upon Him, and He worketh,
6And hath brought out as light thy righteousness, And thy judgment as noon-day.
7Be silent for Jehovah, and stay thyself for Him, Do not fret because of him Who is making prosperous his way, Because of a man doing wicked devices.
8Desist from anger, and forsake fury, Fret not thyself only to do evil.
9For evil doers are cut off, As to those waiting on Jehovah, they possess the land.
10And yet a little, and the wicked is not, And thou hast considered his place, and it is not.
11And the humble do possess the land, And they have delighted themselves In the abundance of peace.
12The wicked is devising against the righteous, And gnashing against him his teeth.
13The Lord doth laugh at him, For He hath seen that his day cometh.
14A sword have the wicked opened, And they have trodden their bow, To cause to fall the poor and needy, To slaughter the upright of the way.
15Their sword doth enter into their own heart, And their bows are shivered.
16Better [is] the little of the righteous, Than the store of many wicked.
17For the arms of the wicked are shivered, And Jehovah is sustaining the righteous.
18 Jehovah knoweth the days of the perfect, And their inheritance is — to the age.
19They are not ashamed in a time of evil, And in days of famine they are satisfied.
20But the wicked perish, and the enemies of Jehovah, As the preciousness of lambs, Have been consumed, In smoke they have been consumed.
21The wicked is borrowing and repayeth not, And the righteous is gracious and giving.
22For His blessed ones do possess the land, And His reviled ones are cut off.
23From Jehovah [are] the steps of a man, They have been prepared, And his way he desireth.
24When he falleth, he is not cast down, For Jehovah is sustaining his hand.
25Young I have been, I have also become old, And I have not seen the righteous forsaken, And his seed seeking bread.
26All the day he is gracious and lending, And his seed [is] for a blessing.
27Turn aside from evil, and do good, and dwell to the age.
28For Jehovah is loving judgment, And He doth not forsake His saintly ones, To the age they have been kept, And the seed of the wicked is cut off.
29The righteous possess the land, And they dwell for ever on it.
30The mouth of the righteous uttereth wisdom, And his tongue speaketh judgment.
31The law of his God [is] his heart, His steps do not slide.
32The wicked is watching for the righteous, And is seeking to put him to death.
33 Jehovah doth not leave him in his hand, Nor condemn him in his being judged.
34Look unto Jehovah, and keep His way, And He doth exalt thee to possess the land, In the wicked being cut off — thou seest!
35I have seen the wicked terrible, And spreading as a green native plant,
36And he passeth away, and lo, he is not, And I seek him, and he is not found!
37Observe the perfect, and see the upright, For the latter end of each [is] peace.
38And transgressors were destroyed together, The latter end of the wicked was cut off.
39And the salvation of the righteous [is] from Jehovah, Their strong place in a time of adversity.
40And Jehovah doth help them and deliver them, He delivereth them from the wicked, And saveth them, Because they trusted in Him!

Psalms 37
37
(By David.)
Trust the Lord
1Don't be annoyed by anyone
who does wrong,
and don't envy them.
2They will soon disappear
like grass without rain.
3Trust the Lord and live right!
The land will be yours,
and you will be safe.
4Do what the Lord wants,
and he will give you
your heart's desire.
5Let the Lord lead you
and trust him to help.
6Then it will be as clear
as the noonday sun
that you were right.
7Be patient and trust the Lord.
Don't let it bother you
when all goes well for those
who do sinful things.
8Don't be angry or furious.
Anger can lead to sin.
9All sinners will disappear,
but if you trust the Lord,
the land will be yours.
10Sinners will soon disappear,
never to be found,
11 #
Mt 5.5. but the poor will take the land
and enjoy a big harvest.
12Merciless people make plots
against good people
and snarl like animals,
13but the Lord laughs and knows
their time is coming soon.
14The wicked kill with swords
and shoot arrows to murder
the poor and the needy
and all who do right.
15But they will be killed
by their own swords,
and their arrows
will be broken.
16It is better to live right
and be poor
than to be sinful and rich.
17The wicked will lose all
of their power,
but the Lord gives strength
to everyone who is good.
18Those who obey the Lord
are daily in his care,
and what he has given them
will be theirs forever.
19They won't be in trouble
when times are bad,
and they will have plenty
when food is scarce.
20Wicked people are enemies
of the Lord
and will vanish like smoke
from a field on fire.
21An evil person borrows
and never pays back;
a good person is generous
and never stops giving.
22Everyone the Lord blesses
will receive the land;
everyone the Lord curses
will be destroyed.
23If you do what the Lord wants,
he will make certain
each step you take is sure.
24The Lord will hold your hand,
and if you stumble,
you still won't fall.
25As long as I can remember,
good people have never
been left helpless,
and their children have never
gone begging for food.
26They gladly give and lend,
and their children
turn out good.
27If you stop sinning
and start doing right,
you will keep living
and be secure forever.
28The Lord loves justice,
and he won't ever desert
his faithful people.
He always protects them,
but destroys the children
of the wicked.
29God's people will own the land
and live here forever.
30Words of wisdom come
when good people speak
for justice.
31They remember God's teachings,
and they never take
a wrong step.
32The wicked try to trap
and kill good people,
33but the Lord is on their side,
and he will defend them
when they are on trial.
34Trust the Lord and follow him.
He will give you the land,
and you will see
the wicked destroyed.
35I have seen brutal people
abuse others and grow strong
like trees in rich soil.#37.35 like … soil: One possible meaning for the difficult Hebrew text.
36Suddenly they disappeared!
I looked, but they were gone
and no longer there.
37Think of the bright future
waiting for all the families
of honest, innocent,
and peace-loving people.
38But not a trace will be left
of the wicked
or their families.
39The Lord protects his people,
and they can come to him
in times of trouble.
40The Lord helps his people
and saves them from the wicked
because they run to him.
