Psalms 11
11
To the Overseer. — By David.
1In Jehovah I trusted, how say ye to my soul, ‘They moved [to] Thy mountain for the bird?
2For lo, the wicked tread a bow, They have prepared their arrow on the string, To shoot in darkness at the upright in heart.
3When the foundations are destroyed, The righteous — what hath he done?
4‘Jehovah [is] in his holy temple: Jehovah — in the heavens [is] His throne. His eyes see — His eyelids try the sons of men.
5 Jehovah the righteous doth try. And the wicked and the lover of violence, Hath His soul hated,
6He poureth on the wicked snares, fire, and brimstone, And a horrible wind [is] the portion of their cup.
7For righteous [is] Jehovah, Righteousness He hath loved, The upright doth His countenance see!’

Psalms 11

Psalm 11
For the choir director; by David.
1I have taken refuge in the Lord.
How can you say to me:
“Flee to your mountain like a bird?
2Wicked people bend their bows.
They set their arrows against the strings
to shoot in the dark at people whose motives are decent.
3When the foundations ⌞of life⌟ are undermined,
what can a righteous person do?”
4The Lord is in his holy temple.
The Lord’s throne is in heaven.
His eyes see.
They examine Adam’s descendants.
5The Lord tests righteous people,
but he hates wicked people and the ones who love violence.
6He rains down fire and burning sulfur upon wicked people.
He makes them drink from a cup filled with scorching wind.
7The Lord is righteous.
He loves a righteous way of life.
Decent people will see his face.
