Leviticus 8
8
1And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,
2‘Take Aaron and his sons with him, and the garments, and the anointing oil, and the bullock of the sin-offering, and the two rams, and the basket of unleavened things,
3and all the company assemble thou unto the opening of the tent of meeting.’
4And Moses doth as Jehovah hath commanded him, and the company is assembled unto the opening of the tent of meeting,
5and Moses saith unto the company, ‘This [is] the thing which Jehovah hath commanded to do.’
6And Moses bringeth near Aaron and his sons, and doth bathe them with water,
7and doth put on him the coat, and doth gird him with the girdle, and doth clothe him with the upper robe, and doth put on him the ephod, and doth gird him with the girdle of the ephod, and doth bind [it] to him with it,
8and doth put on him the breastplate, and doth put unto the breastplate the Lights and the Perfections,
9and doth put the mitre on his head, and doth put on the mitre, over-against its front, the golden flower of the holy crown, as Jehovah hath commanded Moses.
10And Moses taketh the anointing oil, and anointeth the tabernacle, and all that [is] in it, and sanctifieth them;
11and he sprinkleth of it on the altar seven times, and anointeth the altar, and all its vessels, and the laver, and its base, to sanctify them;
12and he poureth of the anointing oil on the head of Aaron, and anointeth him to sanctify him.
13And Moses bringeth near the sons of Aaron, and doth clothe them [with] coats, and girdeth them [with] girdles, and bindeth for them turbans, as Jehovah hath commanded Moses.
14And he bringeth nigh the bullock of the sin-offering, and Aaron layeth — his sons also — their hands on the head of the bullock of the sin-offering,
15and [one] slaughtereth, and Moses taketh the blood, and putteth on the horns of the altar round about with his finger, and cleanseth the altar, and the blood he hath poured out at the foundation of the altar, and sanctifieth it, to make atonement upon it.
16And he taketh all the fat that [is] on the inwards, and the redundance above the liver, and the two kidneys, and their fat, and Moses maketh Perfume on the altar,
17and the bullock, and its skin, and its flesh, and its dung, he hath burnt with fire, at the outside of the camp, as Jehovah hath commanded Moses.
18And he bringeth near the ram of the burnt-offering, and Aaron and his sons lay their hands on the head of the ram,
19and [one] slaughtereth, and Moses sprinkleth the blood on the altar round about;
20and the ram he hath cut into its pieces, and Moses maketh perfume with the head, and the pieces, and the fat,
21and the inwards and the legs he hath washed with water, and Moses maketh perfume with the whole ram on the altar; it [is] a burnt-offering, for sweet fragrance; it [is] a fireoffering to Jehovah, as Jehovah hath commanded Moses.
22And he bringeth near the second ram, a ram of the consecrations, and Aaron and his sons lay their hands on the head of the ram,
23and [one] slaughtereth, and Moses taketh of its blood, and putteth on the tip of the right ear of Aaron, and on the thumb of his right hand, and on the great toe of his right foot;
24and he bringeth near the sons of Aaron, and Moses putteth of the blood on the tip of their right ear, and on the thumb of their right hand, and on the great toe of their right foot. And Moses sprinkleth the blood on the altar round about,
25and taketh the fat, and the fat tail, and all the fat that [is] on the inwards, and the redundance above the liver, and the two kidneys, and their fat, and the right leg;
26and out of the basket of unleavened things, which [is] before Jehovah, he hath taken one unleavened cake, and one cake of oiled bread, and one thin cake, and putteth [them] on the fat, and on the right leg;
27and putteth the whole on the hands of Aaron, and on the hands of his sons, and waveth them — a wave-offering before Jehovah.
28And Moses taketh them from off their hands, and maketh perfume on the altar, on the burnt-offering, they [are] consecrations for sweet fragrance; it [is] a fire-offering to Jehovah;
29and Moses taketh the breast, and waveth it — a wave-offering before Jehovah; of the ram of the consecrations it hath been to Moses for a portion, as Jehovah hath commanded Moses.
30And Moses taketh of the anointing oil, and of the blood which [is] on the altar, and sprinkleth on Aaron, on his garments, and on his sons, and on the garments of his sons with him, and he sanctifieth Aaron, his garments, and his sons, and the garments of his sons with him.
31And Moses saith unto Aaron, and unto his sons, ‘Boil ye the flesh at the opening of the tent of meeting, and there ye do eat it and the bread which [is] in the basket of the consecrations, as I have commanded, saying, Aaron and his sons do eat it.
32‘And the remnant of the flesh and of the bread with fire ye burn;
33and from the opening of the tent of meeting ye go not out seven days, till the day of the fulness, the days of your consecration — for seven days he doth consecrate your hand;
34as he hath done on this day, Jehovah hath commanded to do, to make atonement for you;
35and at the opening of the tent of meeting ye abide, by day and by night seven days, and ye have kept the charge of Jehovah, and die not, for so I have been commanded.’
36And Aaron doth — his sons also — all the things which Jehovah hath commanded by the hand of Moses.

Ordination of Aaron and His Sons
1The Lord spoke to Moses: 2“Take Aaron, his sons with him, the garments, the anointing oil,#Ex 29:7 the bull of the sin#8:2 Or purification offering, the two rams, and the basket#Gn 40:16 of unleavened bread, 3and assemble the whole community#Ex 12:47 at the entrance to the tent of meeting.” 4So Moses did as the Lord commanded him, and the community assembled at the entrance to the tent of meeting. 5Moses said to them, “This is what the Lord has commanded to be done.”
6Then Moses presented Aaron and his sons and washed them with water. 7He put the tunic on Aaron, wrapped the sash around him, clothed him with the robe, and put the ephod#Ex 28:4 on him. He put the woven band of the ephod around him and fastened it to him. 8Then he put the breastpiece on him and placed the Urim and Thummim#Ex 28:30; Nm 27:21; Dt 33:8; 1Sm 28:6; Ezr 2:63; Neh 7:65 into the breastpiece. 9He also put the turban#Lv 16:4 on his head and placed the gold medallion, the holy diadem, on the front of the turban, as the Lord had commanded Moses.#Ex 28:1–43; 29:1–8; 39:1–31
10Then Moses took the anointing oil and anointed the tabernacle and everything in it to consecrate#Ex 19:10,14,23; 20:11 them. 11He sprinkled some of the oil on the altar seven times, anointing the altar with all its utensils, and the basin with its stand, to consecrate them.#Ex 30:18–28; 38:8; 40:7–11 12He poured some of the anointing oil on Aaron’s head and anointed and consecrated him.#Ex 29:7; 30:30; Lv 21:10–12 13Then Moses presented Aaron’s sons, clothed them with tunics, wrapped sashes around them, and fastened headbands on them, as the Lord had commanded Moses.
14Then he brought the bull near for the sin offering, and Aaron and his sons laid their hands on the head of the bull for the sin offering. 15Then Moses slaughtered it,#8:14–15 Or offering, and he slaughtered it. 15 Then Moses took the blood, and applied it with his finger to the horns of the altar on all sides, purifying#Ex 29:36; Lv 14:49,52; Nm 19:19; Ps 51:7; Ezk 43:22–23; 45:18 the altar. He poured out the blood at the base of the altar and consecrated it so that atonement can be made on it.#8:15 Or it by making atonement for it#Ex 29:10–12,36–37; Lv 4:7 16Moses took all the fat that was on the entrails, the fatty lobe of the liver, and the two kidneys#Lv 7:4 with their fat, and he burned them on the altar.#Ex 29:13; Lv 4:7–10 17He burned the bull with its hide, flesh, and waste outside the camp,#Ex 29:14; 33:7; Lv 4:12,21; 6:4; 9:11; 10:4–5; 13:46; 14:3; 16:27; 17:3; 24:14,23 as the Lord had commanded Moses.
18Then he presented the ram for the burnt offering, and Aaron and his sons laid their hands on the head of the ram. 19Moses slaughtered it and#8:18–19 Or ram, 19 and he slaughtered it. Moses splattered the blood on all sides of the altar. 20Moses cut the ram into pieces and burned the head, the pieces, and the fat,#Lv 1:8 21but he washed the entrails and legs with water. He then burned the entire ram on the altar. It was a burnt offering for a pleasing aroma, a food offering to the Lord as he had commanded Moses.
22Next he presented the second ram, the ram of ordination,#Ex 29:22,26–34; Lv 7:37; 8:28–33 and Aaron and his sons laid their hands on the head of the ram. 23Moses slaughtered it,#8:22–23 Or ram, 23 and he slaughtered it. Moses took some of its blood, and put it on Aaron’s right earlobe, on the thumb of his right hand, and on the big toe of his right foot.#Ex 29:20; Lv 14:14,17,25,28 24Moses also presented Aaron’s sons and put some of the blood on their right earlobes, on the thumbs of their right hands, and on the big toes of their right feet. Then Moses splattered the blood on all sides of the altar. 25He took the fat — the fat tail,#Lv 3:9 all the fat that was on the entrails, the fatty lobe of the liver, and the two kidneys with their fat — as well as the right thigh. 26From the basket of unleavened bread that was before the Lord he took one cake of unleavened bread, one cake of bread made with oil, and one wafer, and placed them on the fat portions and the right thigh.#Ex 29:3,23; Lv 7:32; Nm 6:15–19 27He put all these in the hands of Aaron and his sons and presented them before the Lord as a presentation offering. 28Then Moses took them from their hands and burned them on the altar with the burnt offering. This was an ordination offering for a pleasing aroma, a food offering to the Lord. 29He also took the breast and presented it before the Lord as a presentation offering; it was Moses’s portion of the ordination ram as the Lord had commanded him.
30Then Moses took some of the anointing oil and some of the blood that was on the altar and sprinkled them on Aaron and his garments, as well as on his sons and their garments. In this way he consecrated Aaron and his garments, as well as his sons and their garments.#Ex 29:21; Is 6:6–7; Heb 10:22
31Moses said to Aaron and his sons, “Boil the meat at the entrance to the tent of meeting and eat it there with the bread that is in the basket for the ordination offering as I commanded:#8:31 LXX, Syr, Tg read was commanded; Ex 29:31–32 Aaron and his sons are to eat it.#Lv 6:16,18; 10:12; 1Co 9:13–14 32Burn up what remains of the meat and bread.#Ex 29:34 33Do not go outside the entrance to the tent of meeting for seven days, until the time your days of ordination are completed, because it will take seven days to ordain you.#8:33 Lit because he will fill your hands for seven days 34The Lord commanded what has been done today in order to make atonement for you.#Ex 29:35–37; Heb 7:28 35You must remain at the entrance to the tent of meeting day and night for seven days and keep the Lord’s charge#Gn 26:5 so that you will not die,#Lv 10:1–2 for this is what I was commanded.” 36So Aaron and his sons did everything the Lord had commanded through Moses.
