The Mighty Angel and the Small Scroll
1Then I saw another mighty angel # Rv 5:2; 18:21 coming down from heaven, surrounded by a cloud, with a rainbow # Rv 4:3 over his head. # Or a halo on his head His face was like the sun, his legs # Or feet were like fiery pillars, # Rv 3:12 2and he had a little scroll opened in his hand. He put his right foot on the sea, his left on the land, 3and he cried out with a loud voice like a roaring lion. When he cried out, the seven thunders spoke with their voices. 4And when the seven thunders spoke, I was about to write. Then I heard a voice from heaven, saying, “Seal up what the seven thunders said, # Dn 8:26; 12:4,9 and do not write it down! ”
5Then the angel that I had seen standing on the sea and on the land raised his right hand to heaven. 6He swore an oath by the One who lives forever and ever, # Dn 12:7 who created heaven and what is in it, the earth and what is in it, and the sea and what is in it: “There will no longer be an interval of time, # Or be a delay 7but in the days of the sound of the seventh angel, # Rv 11:15; 16:17 when he will blow his trumpet, then God’s hidden plan # Rv 1:20; 17:5,7 will be completed, as He announced to His servants # Or slaves the prophets.” # 2Kg 9:7; 17:23; Ezk 38:17; Am 3:7; Zch 1:6; 1Pt 2:10-12
8Now the voice that I heard from heaven spoke to me again and said, “Go, take the scroll that lies open in the hand of the angel who is standing on the sea and on the land.”
9So I went to the angel and asked him to give me the little scroll. He said to me, “Take and eat it; it will be bitter in your stomach, but it will be as sweet as honey in your mouth.” # Ps 119:103; Jr 15:16; Ezk 2:8–3:3
10Then I took the little scroll from the angel’s hand and ate it. It was as sweet as honey in my mouth, but when I ate it, my stomach became bitter. # Nm 5:24; Ezk 3:1-3 11And I was told, # Lit And they said to me “You must prophesy again about # Or prophesy again against many peoples, nations, languages, and kings.” # Dn 3:4,7; 4:1; 5:19; 7:14; Rv 5:9; 7:9; 11:9

Revelation 10

The Angel and the Little Scroll
1Then I saw another mighty angel coming down out of heaven. He was wrapped in a cloud and had a rainbow round his head; his face was like the sun, and his legs were like pillars of fire. 2He had a small scroll open in his hand. He put his right foot on the sea and his left foot on the land, 3and called out in a loud voice that sounded like the roar of lions. After he had called out, the seven thunders answered with a roar. 4As soon as they spoke, I was about to write. But I heard a voice speak from heaven, “Keep secret what the seven thunders have said; do not write it down!”

The angel said, “There will be no more delay! 7But when the seventh angel blows his trumpet, then God will accomplish his secret plan, as he announced to his servants, the prophets.”

Ezek 2.8—3.3
Then the voice that I had heard speaking from heaven spoke to me again, saying, “Go and take the open scroll which is in the hand of the angel standing on the sea and on the land.”
9I went to the angel and asked him to give me the little scroll. He said to me, “Take it and eat it; it will turn sour in your stomach, but in your mouth it will be sweet as honey.”
10I took the little scroll from his hand and ate it, and it tasted sweet as honey in my mouth. But after I swallowed it, it turned sour in my stomach. 11Then I was told, “Once again you must proclaim God's message about many nations, races, languages, and kings.”
