Revelation 10

The Mighty Angel and the Small Scroll
1Then I saw another mighty angel # Rv 5:2; 18:21 coming down from heaven, surrounded by a cloud, with a rainbow # Rv 4:3 over his head. # Or a halo on his head His face was like the sun, his legs # Or feet were like fiery pillars, # Rv 3:12 2and he had a little scroll opened in his hand. He put his right foot on the sea, his left on the land, 3and he cried out with a loud voice like a roaring lion. When he cried out, the seven thunders spoke with their voices. 4And when the seven thunders spoke, I was about to write. Then I heard a voice from heaven, saying, “Seal up what the seven thunders said, # Dn 8:26; 12:4,9 and do not write it down! ”
5Then the angel that I had seen standing on the sea and on the land raised his right hand to heaven. 6He swore an oath by the One who lives forever and ever, # Dn 12:7 who created heaven and what is in it, the earth and what is in it, and the sea and what is in it: “There will no longer be an interval of time, # Or be a delay 7but in the days of the sound of the seventh angel, # Rv 11:15; 16:17 when he will blow his trumpet, then God’s hidden plan # Rv 1:20; 17:5,7 will be completed, as He announced to His servants # Or slaves the prophets.” # 2Kg 9:7; 17:23; Ezk 38:17; Am 3:7; Zch 1:6; 1Pt 2:10-12
8Now the voice that I heard from heaven spoke to me again and said, “Go, take the scroll that lies open in the hand of the angel who is standing on the sea and on the land.”
9So I went to the angel and asked him to give me the little scroll. He said to me, “Take and eat it; it will be bitter in your stomach, but it will be as sweet as honey in your mouth.” # Ps 119:103; Jr 15:16; Ezk 2:8–3:3
10Then I took the little scroll from the angel’s hand and ate it. It was as sweet as honey in my mouth, but when I ate it, my stomach became bitter. # Nm 5:24; Ezk 3:1-3 11And I was told, # Lit And they said to me “You must prophesy again about # Or prophesy again against many peoples, nations, languages, and kings.” # Dn 3:4,7; 4:1; 5:19; 7:14; Rv 5:9; 7:9; 11:9

Revelation 10
10
1 And I saw another strong Angel, descending from heaven, clothed with a cloud. And a rainbow was upon his head, and his face was like the sun, and his feet were like columns of fire.
2 And he held in his hand a small open book. And he stationed his right foot upon the sea, and his left foot upon the land.
3 And he cried out with a great voice, in the manner of a lion roaring. And when he had cried out, seven thunders uttered their voices.
4 And when the seven thunders had uttered their voices, I was about to write. But I heard a voice from heaven, saying to me: "Seal the things that the seven thunders have spoken, and do not write them."
5 And the Angel, whom I saw standing upon the sea and upon the land, lifted up his hand toward heaven.
6 And he swore by the One who lives forever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that are in it; and the earth, and the things that are in it; and the sea, and the things that are in it: that the time will not be any longer,
7 but in the days of the voice of the seventh Angel, when he shall begin to sound the trumpet, the mystery of God will be completed, just as he has proclaimed in the Gospel, through his servants the Prophets.
8 And again, I heard a voice from heaven speaking with me and saying: "Go and receive the open book from the hand of the Angel who stands upon the sea and upon the land."
9 And I went to the Angel, saying to him that he should give the book to me. And he said to me: "Receive the book and consume it. And it shall cause bitterness in your stomach, but in your mouth it shall be sweet like honey."
10 And I received the book from the hand of the Angel, and I consumed it. And it was sweet like honey in my mouth. And when I had consumed it, my stomach was made bitter.
11 And he said to me, "It is necessary for you to prophesy again about many nations and peoples and languages and kings."
