God Judges the Proud

1Why brag about evil, you hero! # Ps 94:4
God’s faithful love is constant. # Ps 40:10-11; 138:2
2Like a sharpened razor,
your tongue devises destruction,
working treachery. # Ps 5:9; 50:19; 59:7
3You love evil instead of good,
lying instead of speaking truthfully. # Ps 58:3; Jr 9:4-5Selah
4You love any words that destroy,
you treacherous tongue! # Ps 10:7; Pr 17:4
5This is why God will bring you down forever.
He will take you, ripping you out of your tent;
He will uproot you from the land of the living. # Ps 27:13; Pr 2:22Selah
6The righteous will look on with awe
and will ridicule him: # Jb 22:19-20; Ps 37:34
7“Here is the man
who would not make God his refuge,
but trusted in the abundance of his riches,
taking refuge in his destructive behavior.” # Or riches, and grew strong in his evil desire ; lit his destruction # Ps 10:6; 49:6; Pr 11:28
8But I am like a flourishing olive tree
in the house of God; # Ps 1:3; 128:3; Jr 11:16
I trust in God’s faithful love forever and ever. # Ps 143:8
9I will praise You forever for what You have done.
In the presence of Your faithful people,
I will put my hope in Your name, for it is good. # Ps 30:12; 54:6
