The Priestly King
A Davidic psalm.
1This is the declaration of the Lord
to my Lord:
“Sit at My right hand
until I make Your enemies Your footstool.” # Mt 22:44; Mk 12:36; Lk 20:42-43; Ac 2:34-35; 1Co 15:25; Heb 1:13
2The Lord will extend Your mighty scepter from Zion.

3Your people will volunteer
on Your day of battle. # Lit power # Jdg 5:2
In holy splendor, from the womb of the dawn,

4The Lord has sworn an oath and will not take it back:
“Forever, You are a priest
like Melchizedek.” # Gn 14:18; Heb 5:6,10; 7:17,21
5The Lord is at Your right hand;
He will crush kings on the day of His anger. # Ps 16:8; 68:14
6He will judge the nations, heaping up corpses; # Is 66:24; Rv 19:17-18
He will crush leaders over the entire world. # Ps 68:21
7He will drink from the brook by the road; # Jdg 7:5-6
therefore, He will lift up His head. # Ps 27:6
