Jeremiah 30

Restoration from Captivity
1This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord. 2This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: “Write down on a scroll all the words that I have spoken to you, # Ex 17:14; 34:1,27; Nm 5:23; Dt 17:18; 27:3; 31:19; Is 30:8; 36:2,28; Ezk 43:11; Hs 8:12; Hab 2:2; 1Co 14:37; Rv 1:11; 10:4; 14:13; 19:9; 21:5 3for the days are certainly coming” — this is the Lord’s declaration — “when I will restore the fortunes # Or will end the captivity of My people Israel and Judah” # Jr 33:7,11; Ezk 37:15-23; 39:25; Jl 3:1; Am 9:14 — the Lord’s declaration. “I will restore them to the land I gave to their ancestors and they will possess it.”
4These are the words the Lord spoke to Israel and Judah. 5Yes, this is what the Lord says:
We have heard a cry of terror,
of dread — there is no peace.
6Ask and see
whether a male can give birth.
Why then do I see every man
with his hands on his stomach like a woman in labor
and every face turned pale? # Ps 48:6; Is 13:8; 21:3; 42:14; Jr 4:31; 6:24; 13:21; 22:23; 50:43; Mc 4:9-10; 1Th 5:3
7How awful that day will be! # Jl 2:11; Zph 1:14
There will be none like it! # Dn 12:1
It will be a time of trouble for Jacob,
but he will be delivered out of it.
8“On that day” — this is the declaration of the Lord of Hosts — “I will break his yoke from your neck # Gn 27:40; Jr 2:20; 28:4,11; Ezk 34:27; Nah 1:13 and tear off your chains # Jr 27:2 so strangers will never again enslave him. # Ezk 34:27 9They will serve the Lord their God and I will raise up David their king for them.” # Is 55:3-5; Ezk 34:23-24; 37:24-25; Hs 3:5; Lk 1:69; Ac 13:23,34
10As for you, My servant Jacob, # Is 41:8; 44:2; 45:4; 48:20; Jr 46:27; Ezk 28:25; 37:25
do not be afraid —
this is the Lord’s declaration —
and do not be dismayed, Israel,
for without fail I will save you from far away,
your descendants, from the land of their captivity!
Jacob will return and have calm and quiet
with no one to frighten him. # Lv 26:6; Jr 46:27; Ezk 34:28; 39:26; Mc 4:4; Zph 3:13
11For I will be with you —
this is the Lord’s declaration —
to save you! # 2Kg 19:34; Is 37:35; Jr 15:20
I will bring destruction on all the nations
where I have scattered you;
however, I will not bring destruction on you.
I will discipline you justly,
and I will by no means leave you unpunished. # Ex 34:7; Jr 46:27-28
Healing Zion’s Wounds
12For this is what the Lord says:
Your injury is incurable;
your wound most severe. # Jr 10:19; 15:18; 17:9
13No one takes up the case for your sores. # Hs 5:13
There is no healing for you.
14All your lovers have forgotten you; # Jr 4:30; Lm 1:19
they no longer look for you,
for I have struck you as an enemy would,
with the discipline # Jr 2:30; 5:3; 7:28 of someone cruel, # Is 13:9
because of your enormous guilt
and your innumerable sins.
15Why do you cry out about your injury?
Your pain has no cure!
I have done these things to you
because of your enormous guilt
and your innumerable sins. # Jr 5:6; Am 5:12
16Nevertheless, all who devoured you will be devoured, # Jr 10:25
and all your adversaries — all of them —
will go off into exile.
Those who plunder you will be plundered,
and all who raid you will be raided. # Ezk 39:10; Hab 2:8
17But I will bring you health # Is 58:8; Jr 8:22; 33:6
and will heal you of your wounds —
this is the Lord’s declaration —
for they call you Outcast,
Zion whom no one cares about.
Restoration of the Land
18This is what the Lord says:
I will certainly restore the fortunes # Or certainly end the captivity of Jacob’s tents # Jr 30:3
and show compassion # Jr 12:15; 31:20; 33:26; 42:12 on his dwellings.
Every city will be rebuilt on its mound;
every citadel will stand on its proper site.
19Thanksgiving will come out of them,
a sound of celebration.
I will multiply them, and they will not decrease; # Jr 29:6
I will honor them, and they will not be insignificant.
20His children will be as in past days;
his congregation will be established in My presence.
I will punish all his oppressors. # Jdg 10:12; Is 19:20-25
21Jacob’s leader will be one of them;
his ruler will issue from him.
I will invite him to Me, and he will approach Me, # Nm 16:5
for who would otherwise risk his life to approach Me?
This is the Lord’s declaration.
22You will be My people,
and I will be your God. # Jr 11:4; 24:7; 31:33
The Wrath of God
23Look, a storm from the Lord! # Ps 83:15; Is 29:6; Zch 9:14
Wrath has gone out,
a churning storm.
It will whirl about the heads of the wicked.
24The Lord’s burning anger will not turn back
until He has completely fulfilled the purposes of His heart.
In time to come you will understand it. # Jr 23:19-20

Jeremias (Jeremiah) 30
30
1This is the word that came to Jeremias from the Lord, saying:
2Thus saith the Lord, the God of Israel, saying: Write thee all the words that I have spoken to thee in a book.
3For, behold, the days come, saith the Lord, and I will bring again the captivity of my people Israel and Juda, saith the Lord: and I will cause them to return to the land which I gave to their fathers, and they shall possess it.
4And these are the words that the Lord hath spoken to Israel and to Juda:
5For thus saith the Lord: We have heard a voice of terror: there is fear and no peace.
6Ask ye, and see if a man bear children? Why then have I seen every man with his hands on his loins, like a woman in labour, and all faces are turned yellow?
7Alas, for that day is great: neither is there the like to it. And it is the time of tribulation to Jacob: but he shall be saved out of it.
8And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord of hosts, that I will break his yoke from off thy neck and will burst his bands: and strangers shall no more rule over him.
9But they shall serve the Lord their God and David their king, whom I will raise up to them.
10Therefore, fear thou not, my servant Jacob, saith the Lord, neither be dismayed, O Israel: for, behold, I will save thee from a country afar off, and thy seed from the land of their captivity. And Jacob shall return and be at rest and abound with all good things and there shall be none whom he may fear.
11For I am with thee, saith the Lord, to save thee: for I will utterly consume all the nations among which I have scattered thee. But I will not utterly consume thee: but I will chastise thee in judgment, that thou mayst not seem to thyself innocent.
12For thus saith the Lord: Thy bruise is incurable, thy wound is very grievous.
13There is none to judge thy judgment to bind it up: thou hast no healing medicines.
14All thy lovers have forgotten thee and will not seek after thee: for I have wounded thee with the wound of an enemy, with a cruel chastisement: by reason of the multitude of thy iniquities, thy sins are hardened.
15Why criest thou for thy affliction? Thy sorrow is incurable: for the multitude of thy iniquity and for thy hardened sins, I have done these things to thee.
16Therefore all they that devour thee shall be devoured: and all thy enemies shall be carried into captivity: and they that waste thee shall be wasted and all that prey upon thee will I give for a prey.
17For I will close up thy scar and will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the Lord: because they have called thee, O Sion, an outcast: This is she that hath none to seek after her.
18Thus saith the Lord: Behold, I bring back the captivity of the pavilions of Jacob and will have pity on his houses, and the city shall be built in her high place, and the temple shall be found according to the order thereof.
19And out of them shall come forth praise and the voice of them that play: and I will multiply them, and they shall not be made few: and I will glorify them, and they shall not be lessened.
20And their children shall be as from the beginning and their assembly be permanent before me: and I will against all that afflict them.
21And their leader shall be of themselves: and their prince shall come forth from the midst of them: and I will bring him near, and he shall come to me: for who is this that setteth his heart to approach to me, saith the Lord?
22And you shall be my people: and I will be your God.
23Behold, the whirlwind of the Lord, his fury going forth, a violent storm: it shall rest upon the head of the wicked.
24The Lord will not turn away the wrath of his indignation till he have executed and performed the thought of his heart. In the latter days you shall understand these things.
