Hosea 3

Waiting for Restoration
1Then the Lord said to me, “Go again; show love to a woman who is loved by another man and is an adulteress, # Hs 1:2 just as the Lord loves the Israelites though they turn to other gods and love raisin cakes.” # 2Sm 6:19; 1Ch 16:3; Sg 2:5
2So I bought her for 15 shekels of silver and five bushels of barley. # LXX reads barley and a measure of wine # Lit silver, a homer of barley, and a lethek of barley # Ru 4:10 3I said to her, “You must live with me many days. Don’t be promiscuous or belong to any man, and I will act the same way toward you.”
4For the Israelites must live many days without king or prince, # Hs 13:10-11 without sacrifice # Dn 9:27; 11:31; 12:11; Hs 2:11 or sacred pillar, # Hs 10:1-2 and without ephod # Ex 28:4-12; 1Sm 23:9-12 or household idols. # Gn 31:19,34; Jdg 17:5; 18:14,17 5Afterward, the people of Israel will return # Jr 50:4-5 and seek the Lord their God and David their king. # Is 11:1-10; Jr 23:5-6; 33:15-16; Ezk 34:24; Rm 11:23 They will come with awe to the Lord # Jr 31:9 and to His goodness in the last days.

Osee (Hosea) 3
3
1And the Lord said to me: Go yet again, and love a woman beloved of her friend, and an adulteress: as the Lord loveth the children of Israel, and they look to strange gods, and love the husks of the grapes.
2And I bought her to me for fifteen pieces of silver, and for a core of barley, and for half a core of barley.
3And I said to her: Thou shalt wait for me many days: thou shalt not play the harlot, and thou shalt be no man's, and I also will wait for thee.
4For the children of Israel shall sit many days without king, and without prince, and without sacrifice, and without altar, and without ephod, and without theraphim.
5And after this the children of Israel shall return, and shall seek the Lord their God, and David their king: and they shall fear the Lord, and his goodness in the last days.
