2 Corinthians 5

Our Future after Death
1For we know that if our temporary, earthly dwelling # = our present physical body # 2Pt 1:13 is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal dwelling # = our future body in the heavens, # Eph 6:9; Php 2:10 not made with hands. # Col 2:11 2Indeed, we groan in this body, desiring # 1Pt 2:2 to put on our dwelling from heaven, 3since, when we are clothed, # Other mss read stripped we will not be found naked. # Mt 25:36; Lk 10:30 4Indeed, we groan while we are in this tent, burdened as we are, because we do not want to be unclothed but clothed, so that mortality # Rm 7:24; 8:23; 1Co 15:26 may be swallowed up by life. 5And the One who prepared us for this very purpose is God, who gave us the Spirit as a down payment.
6So, we are always confident and know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord. 7For we walk by faith, # Mt 8:10; Ac 3:16; Rm 1:8; 1Co 2:5; Gl 2:16; 1Tm 1:2; Heb 4:2 not by sight, # Lk 3:22 8and we are confident and satisfied to be out of the body and at home with the Lord. # Php 1:23 9Therefore, whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to be pleasing # Heb 13:21 to Him. 10For we must all appear before the tribunal # Jn 5:22-30 of Christ, # Mt 25:31-46; Php 1:6; Heb 10:31 so that each may be repaid # Mt 16:27 for what he has done in the body, whether good or worthless.
11Therefore, because we know the fear of the Lord, # Ps 147:11; Pr 1:7; 1Pt 1:17; Rv 14:7 we seek to persuade people. We are completely open before God, and I hope we are completely open to your consciences as well. 12We are not commending ourselves to you again, but giving you an opportunity to be proud of us, so that you may have a reply for those who take pride in the outward appearance # Lit in face rather than in the heart. 13For if we are out of our mind, # Ac 10:45 it is for God; if we have a sound mind, # 1Pt 4:7 it is for you. 14For Christ’s love compels # Or For the love of Christ impels, or For the love of Christ controls us, since we have reached this conclusion: If One died for all, # Jn 11:51; 2Co 4:10 then all died. 15And He died for all # Lk 20:38; Heb 2:9 so that those who live should no longer live for themselves, # Rm 14:7 but for the One # Lk 20:38 who died for them and was raised.
The Ministry of Reconciliation
16From now on, then, we do not know # Or regard anyone in a purely human way. # Lit anyone according to the flesh Even if we have known # Or have regarded Christ in a purely human way, # Lit Christ according to the flesh yet now we no longer know # Or regard Him in this way. 17Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; # Jn 1:3; Rv 3:14 old things have passed away, and look, # Rm 8:24 new things # Other mss read look, all new things have come. # Is 43:19; 65:17; Rm 6:4; Eph 4:24; Rv 21:5 18Everything is from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: # Rm 5:11 19That is, in Christ, God was reconciling the world # 2Pt 2:20 to Himself, # Ti 2:11 not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed the message of reconciliation to us. 20Therefore, we are ambassadors # Eph 6:20 for Christ, certain that God is appealing through us. We plead on Christ’s behalf, # 2Co 12:10; Php 1:29 “Be reconciled to God.” 21He made the One who did not know sin # 1Jn 3:5 to be sin # Or be a sin offering for us, # Rm 8:3; Gl 3:13; 1Pt 2:24 so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

2 Corinthians 5
5
1For we have da'as that if the beit mishkaneinu#5:1 Job 4:19; 2C 4:7 is made churban, we have a bais from Hashem, not made with hands, a Bais L'olamim b'Shomayim.#5:1 Isa 38:12
2For indeed in this mishkaneinu we groan, longing for the train of our robe to be our sukkah from Shomayim.#5:2 Ro 8:23
3If indeed thus clothed we will not be found naked.
4For while we are still in this mishkan, we groan under our burden, in as much as we do not want to be unclothed but to be clothed, that the mortal may be swallowed up by Chayyim.#5:4 1C 15:53-54
5Now the One having prepared us for this very thing is Hashem, the One having given us the eravon (pledge) of the Ruach Hakodesh.#5:5 Ro 8:16,23; 2C 1:22; Ep 1:13
6Therefore we always have bitachon since we have da'as that being at home in the basar, we are away from home in Adoneinu.#5:6 MJ 11:13-16
7For we walk by emunah (faith), not by sight;#5:7 1C 13:12
8Therefore we have bitachon and are pleased rather to leave home from the basar and to be at home with Adoneinu.#5:8 Pp 1:23
9Therefore, also we are aspiring, whether at home, or away from home, to be well pleasing to Hashem,#5:9 Co 1:10; 1Th 4:1
10Since it is necessary for all of us to be revealed/laid bare for an appearance before the Kisse Din (Judgment Throne, i.e., Moshiachʼs Bet Din) of Moshiach, in order that each one of us [individually] may receive recompense for the things done in the basar, according to his ma'asim, whether tov or rah.#5:10 1C 9:27; 3:10-15; Koh 12:14; Jn 5:22; Ac 17:31; Ro 2:16; 14:10
11Therefore, since we have da'as of the yirat [Moshiach] Adoneinu, we persuade men, and we have been made manifest to Hashem and I have tikvah also that we have been made manifest to your matzpunim.#5:11 Job 23:15; 2C 4:2
12We are not commending ourselves to you again,#5:12 2C 3:1 but are giving an opportunity to you of glorying on behalf of us#5:12 2C 1:14 that you may respond to those who glory in outer appearance and not in lev.
13For if we have hislayves and dveykes (ecstasy), it is for Hashem; if we are in our right mind, it is for you.
14For the ahavah (love) of Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach controls us, because we have judged this, that one [Moshiach] died on behalf of all and therefore all died.
15And Moshiach died on behalf of all,#5:15 1Ti 2:6 that the ones living may no longer live to themselves but may live to the one [Moshiach] who both died and has been made to stand up alive in his Techiyas HaMoshiach for their sakes.#5:15 Ro 14:7-8
16From now on, therefore, we have da'as of no one from a purely human point of view; if indeed we have had da'as of Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach according to the basar, we now no longer so have da'as of him,
17So that if anyone is in Moshiach, he is a bria chadasha#5:17 Ro 8:1,10; Ga 6:15 (a new being): the old things passed away; hinei, all has become chadashot.#5:17 Isa 43:18; 65:17; Rv 21:5
18And all things are of Hashem, Who is the One having granted to us ritztzuy (reconciliation) to Himself through Moshiach#5:18 Ro 5:10 and has given to us the sherut haRitztzuy (the ministry of reconciliation),
19Davka (specifically), that Hashem was in Moshiach reconciling the Olam to himself,#5:19 Ro 3:24-25; Co 1:19-20 not reckoning their avonot against them and putting in us the Dvar HaRitztzuy (Message of Reconciliation).
20On behalf of Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach, therefore, we are emissaries of shalom,#5:20 Isa 27:5; 52:7; Ep 6:20 as if Hashem were entreating through us, we ask on behalf of Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach: be reconciled to Hashem!
21The one who in his person had no da'as of chattat (sin),#5:21 Ac 3:14; Jn 8:46; MJ 4:15; 7:26; 1K 2:22; 1Y 3:5 this one Hashem made a chattat sin offering#5:21 Ga 3:13; Isa 53:10; Lv 4:24 TARGUM HASHIVIM on our behalf that we might become the Tzidkat Hashem#5:21 Dan 9:24 in Moshiach.#5:21 1C 1:30; Pp 3:9
