Judah’s King Jotham
1Jotham was 25 years old # 2Kg 15:33-35 when he became king and reigned 16 years in Jerusalem. # 2Ch 27:8 His mother’s name was Jerushah daughter of Zadok. 2He did what was right in the Lord’s sight as his father Uzziah had done. In addition, he didn’t enter the Lord’s sanctuary, # 2Ch 26:16-18 but the people still behaved corruptly.
3Jotham built the Upper Gate of the Lord’s temple, and he built extensively on the wall of Ophel. # 2Ch 33:14; Neh 3:26-27 4He also built cities in the hill country of Judah and fortresses and towers in the forests. # 2Ch 11:5 5He waged war against the king of the Ammonites. He overpowered the Ammonites, and that year they gave him 7,500 pounds # Lit 100 talents of silver, 50,000 bushels # Lit 10,000 cors of wheat, and 50,000 bushels # Lit 10,000 cors of barley. They paid him the same in the second and third years. 6So Jotham strengthened himself because he did not waver in obeying # Lit he established his ways before the Lord his God. # 2Ch 26:5
7As for the rest of the events # 2Kg 15:36-38 of Jotham’s reign, along with all his wars and his ways, note that they are written in the Book of the Kings of Israel and Judah. 8He was 25 years old when he became king and reigned 16 years in Jerusalem. 9Jotham rested with his fathers and was buried in the city of David. His son Ahaz became king in his place.

1 Jotham was twenty-five years old when he had begun to reign, and he reigned for sixteen years in Jerusalem. The name of his mother was Jerusha, the daughter of Zadok.
2 And he did what was right before the Lord, in accord with all that his father, Uzziah, had done, except that he did not enter into the temple of the Lord, and still the people were transgressing.
3 He improved the high gate of the house of the Lord. And he built many things upon the wall of Ophel.
4 Also, he built cities in the mountains of Judah, and fortresses and towers in the forests.
5 He fought against the king of the sons of Ammon, and he defeated them. And at that time, the sons of Ammon gave to him one hundred talents of silver, and ten thousand cor of wheat, and the same number of cor of barley. These things the sons of Ammon offered to him in the second and third year.
6 And Jotham was strengthened, because he had directed his way before the Lord his God.
7 Now the rest of the words of Jotham, and all his battles and works, have been written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah.
8 He was twenty-five years old when he had begun to reign, and he reigned for sixteen years in Jerusalem.
9 And Jotham slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the City of David. And his son, Ahaz, reigned in his place.
