Psalms 47
47
Psalm 47
For the choir director; a psalm by Korah’s descendants.
1Clap your hands, all you people.
Shout to God with a loud, joyful song.
2We must fear the Lord, the Most High.
He is the great king of the whole earth.
3He brings people under our authority
and ⌞puts⌟ nations under our feet.
4He chooses our inheritance for us,
the pride of Jacob, whom he loved. Selah
5God has gone up with a joyful shout.
The Lord has gone up with the sound of a ram’s horn.
6Make music to praise God.
Play music for him!
Make music to praise our king.
Play music for him!
7God is the king of the whole earth.
Make your best music for him!
8God rules the nations.
He sits upon his holy throne.
9The influential people from the nations gather together
as the people of the God of Abraham.
The rulers of the earth belong to God.
He rules everything.

Psalm 47
For the music leader. A psalm of the Korahites.
1Clap your hands, all you people!
Shout joyfully to God with a joyous shout!
2Because the LORD Most High is awesome,

3He subdues the nations under us,
subdues all people beneath our feet.
4He chooses our inheritance for us:
the heights of Jacob, which he loves. Selah
5God has gone up with a joyous shout—
the LORD with the blast of the ram’s horn.
6Sing praises to God! Sing praises!
Sing praises to our king! Sing praises
7because God is king of the whole world!
Sing praises with a song of instruction!#47.7 Or Sing praises with understanding or wisely (cf LXX, Vulg); Heb maskil; see the note at Ps 32.
8God is king over the nations.
God sits on his holy throne.
9The leaders of all people are gathered
with the people of Abraham’s God
because the earth’s guardians belong to God;
