Psalms 36

Psalm 36
For the choir director; by David, the Lord’s servant.
1There is an inspired truth about the wicked person
who has rebellion in the depths of his heart:
He is not terrified of God.
2He flatters himself and does not hate or ⌞even⌟ recognize his guilt.
3The words from his mouth are ⌞nothing but⌟ trouble and deception.
He has stopped doing what is wise and good.
4He invents trouble while lying on his bed
and chooses to go the wrong direction.
He does not reject evil.
5O Lord, your mercy reaches to the heavens,
your faithfulness to the skies.
6Your righteousness is like the mountains of God,
your judgments like the deep ocean.
You save people and animals, O Lord.
7Your mercy is so precious, O God,
that Adam’s descendants take refuge
in the shadow of your wings.
8They are refreshed with the rich foods in your house,
and you make them drink from the river of your pleasure.
9Indeed, the fountain of life is with you.
In your light we see light.
10Continue to show your mercy to those who know you
and your righteousness to those whose motives are decent.
11Do not let the feet of arrogant people step on me
or the hands of wicked people push me away.
12Look at the troublemakers who have fallen.
They have been pushed down and are unable to stand up again.

Psalms 36
36
To the Overseer. — By a servant of Jehovah, by David.
1The transgression of the wicked Is affirming within my heart, ‘Fear of God is not before his eyes,
2For he made [it] smooth to himself in his eyes, To find his iniquity to be hated.
3The words of his mouth [are] iniquity and deceit, He ceased to act prudently — to do good.
4Iniquity he deviseth on his bed, He stationeth himself on a way not good, Evil he doth not refuse.’
5O Jehovah, in the heavens [is] Thy kindness, Thy faithfulness [is] unto the clouds.
6Thy righteousness [is] as mountains of God, Thy judgments [are] a great deep. Man and beast Thou savest, O Jehovah.
7How precious [is] Thy kindness, O God, And the sons of men In the shadow of Thy wings do trust.
8They are filled from the fatness of Thy house, And the stream of Thy delights Thou dost cause them to drink.
9For with Thee [is] a fountain of life, In Thy light we see light.
10Draw out Thy kindness to those knowing Thee, And Thy righteousness to the upright of heart.
11Let not a foot of pride meet me, And a hand of the wicked let not move me.
12There have workers of iniquity fallen, They have been overthrown, And have not been able to arise!
