Psalms 143
143
Psalm 143
A psalm by David.
1O Lord, listen to my prayer.
Open your ears to hear my urgent requests.
Answer me because you are faithful and righteous.
2Do not take me to court for judgment,
because there is no one alive
who is righteous in your presence.
3The enemy has pursued me.
He has ground my life into the dirt.
He has made me live in dark places
like those who have died long ago.
4That is why I begin to lose hope
and my heart is in a state of shock.
5I remember the days long ago.
I reflect on all that you have done.
I carefully consider what your hands have made.
6I stretch out my hands to you in prayer.
Like parched land, my soul thirsts for you. Selah
7Answer me quickly, O Lord.
My spirit is worn out.
Do not hide your face from me,
or I will be like those who go into the pit.
8Let me hear about your mercy in the morning,
because I trust you.
Let me know the way that I should go,
because I long for you.
9Rescue me from my enemies, O Lord.
I come to you for protection.
10Teach me to do your will, because you are my God.
May your good Spirit lead me on level ground.
11O Lord, keep me alive for the sake of your name.
Because you are righteous, lead me out of trouble.
12In keeping with your mercy, wipe out my enemies
and destroy all who torment me,
because I am your servant.

PSALM 143
A Psalm of David.
1Jehovah, hear my prayer; give ear to my supplications: in thy faithfulness answer me, in thy righteousness. 2And enter not into judgment with thy servant; for in thy sight no man living shall be justified. 3For the enemy persecuteth my soul: he hath crushed my life down to the earth; he hath made me to dwell in dark places, as those that have been long dead. 4And my spirit is overwhelmed within me; my heart within me is desolate. 5I remember the days of old: I meditate on all thy doing; I muse on the work of thy hands. 6I stretch forth my hands unto thee: my soul, as a parched land, thirsteth after thee. Selah.
7Answer me speedily, O Jehovah; my spirit faileth: hide not thy face from me, or I shall be like unto them that go down into the pit. 8Cause me to hear thy loving-kindness in the morning, for in thee do I confide; make me to know the way wherein I should walk, for unto thee do I lift up my soul. 9Deliver me, O Jehovah, from mine enemies: unto thee do I flee for refuge. 10Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God#GodHebrew: Elohim let thy good Spirit lead me in a plain country. 11Revive me, O Jehovah, for thy name's sake; in thy righteousness bring my soul out of trouble; 12And in thy loving-kindness cut off mine enemies, and destroy all them that oppress my soul: for I am thy servant.
