Psalms 141
141
Psalm 141
A psalm by David.
1O Lord, I cry out to you, “Come quickly.”
Open your ears to me when I cry out to you.
2Let my prayer be accepted
as sweet-smelling incense in your presence.
Let the lifting up of my hands in prayer be accepted
as an evening sacrifice.
3O Lord, set a guard at my mouth.
Keep watch over the door of my lips.
4Do not let me be persuaded to do anything evil
or to become involved with wickedness,
with people who are troublemakers.
Do not let me taste their delicacies.
5A righteous person may strike me or correct me out of kindness.
It is like lotion for my head.
My head will not refuse it,
because my prayer is directed against evil deeds.
6When their judges are thrown off a cliff,
they will listen to what I have to say.
It will sound pleasant ⌞to them⌟.
7As someone plows and breaks up the ground,
so our bones will be planted at the mouth of the grave.
8My eyes look to you, Lord Almighty.
I have taken refuge in you.
Do not leave me defenseless.
9Keep me away from the trap they set for me
and from the traps set by troublemakers.
10Let wicked people fall into their own nets,
while I escape unharmed.

An Evening Prayer#Ps 141 Hebrew title: A psalm by David.
1I call to you, LORD; help me now!
Listen to me when I call to you.

Rev 5.8
Receive my prayer as incense,
my uplifted hands as an evening sacrifice.
3 LORD, place a guard at my mouth,
a sentry at the door of my lips.
4Keep me from wanting to do wrong
and from joining evil people in their wickedness.
May I never take part in their feasts.
5Good people may punish me and rebuke me in kindness,
but I will never accept honour from evil people,
because I am always praying against their evil deeds.
6When their rulers are thrown down from rocky cliffs,
the people will admit that my words were true.
7Like wood that is split and chopped into bits,
so their bones are scattered at the edge of the grave.#141.7 Verses 5–7 in Hebrew are unclear.
8But I keep trusting in you, my Sovereign LORD.
I seek your protection;
don't let me die!
9Protect me from the traps they have set for me,
from the snares of those evildoers.
10May the wicked fall into their own traps
while I go by unharmed.
