2 Timothy 1
1
Greeting
1From Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by God’s will—a will that contains Christ Jesus’ promise of life.
2To Timothy, my dear child.
Good will,#1:2 Or “Grace.” mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord!
3I constantly remember you in my prayers night and day when I thank God, whom I serve with a clear conscience as my ancestors did. 4I remember your tears and want to see you so that I can be filled with happiness. 5I’m reminded of how sincere your faith is. That faith first lived in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice. I’m convinced that it also lives in you.
Paul’s Advice for Timothy
6You received a gift from God when I placed my hands on you ⌞to ordain you⌟. Now I’m reminding you to fan that gift into flames. 7God didn’t give us a cowardly spirit but a spirit of power, love, and good judgment. 8So never be ashamed to tell others about our Lord or be ashamed of me, his prisoner. Instead, by God’s power, join me in suffering for the sake of the Good News. 9God saved us and called us to be holy, not because of what we had done, but because of his own plan and kindness.#1:9 Or “grace.” Before the world began, God planned that Christ Jesus would show us God’s kindness. 10Now with the coming of our Savior Christ Jesus, he has revealed it. Christ has destroyed death, and through the Good News he has brought eternal life into full view. 11I was appointed to be a messenger of this Good News, an apostle, and a teacher.
12For this reason I suffer as I do. However, I’m not ashamed. I know whom I trust. I’m convinced that he is able to protect what he had entrusted to me until that day.
13With faith and love for Christ Jesus, consider what you heard me say to be the pattern of accurate teachings. 14With the help of the Holy Spirit who lives in us, protect the Good News that has been entrusted to you.
News about Paul’s Coworkers
15You know that everyone in the province of Asia has deserted me, including Phygelus and Hermogenes.
16May the Lord be merciful to the family of Onesiphorus. He often took care of my needs and wasn’t ashamed that I was a prisoner. 17When he arrived in Rome, he searched hard for me and found me. 18May the Lord grant that Onesiphorus finds mercy when that day comes. You know very well that he did everything possible to help me in Ephesus.

Timotiyos Bĕt (2 Timothy) 1
1
1Sha’ul, an emissary of יהושע Messiah by the desire of Elohim, according to the promise of life which is in Messiah יהושע,
2to Timotiyos, my beloved son: Favour, compassion, peace from Elohim the Father, and Messiah יהושע our Master.
3I thank Elohim, whom I serve with a clear conscience, as my forefathers did, as I unceasingly remember you in my prayers night and day,
4longing to see you, as I remember your tears, so that I might be filled with joy.
5For I recollect the sincere belief which is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunike, and I am persuaded is in you too.
6For this reason I remind you to stir up the gift of Elohim which is in you through the laying on of my hands.
7For Elohim has not given us a spirit of cowardice, but of power and of love and of self-control.
8So do not be ashamed of the witness of our Master, nor of me His prisoner, but suffer hardship with me for the Good News according to the power of Elohim,
9who has saved us and called us with a set-apart calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and favour which was given to us in Messiah יהושע before times of old,
10but now revealed by the appearing of our Saviour יהושע Messiah, who indeed abolished death and brought life and incorruptibility to light through the Good News,
11for which I was appointed a proclaimer, and an emissary, and a teacher of the nations.
12For this reason I also suffer these matters, but I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to watch over that which I have entrusted to Him until that Day.
13Hold the pattern of sound words which you have heard from me, in belief and love which are in Messiah יהושע.
14Watch over the good deposit that was entrusted to you, by the Set-apart Spirit dwelling in us.
15You know this, that all those in Asia have turned away from me, among whom are Phugellos and Hermogenes.
16The Master grant compassion unto the household of Onesiphoros, for he often refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain,
17but when he was in Rome, he eagerly searched for me and found me.
18The Master grant to him to find compassion from the Master in that Day. And you know very well how many ways he attended to me at Ephesos.
