The Seven Bowls of God’s Wrath
1Then I heard a loud voice from the temple telling #See ch. 15:1 the seven angels, “Go and #Ps. 79:6; Jer. 10:25; Zeph. 3:8 pour out on the earth #ch. 15:7the seven bowls of the wrath of God.”
2So the first angel went and poured out his bowl on the earth, and harmful and painful #ver. 11; Ex. 9:9-11 sores came upon the people who bore #ch. 13:16the mark of the beast and worshiped its image.
3The second angel poured out his bowl into the sea, and #ch. 8:8 it became like the blood of a corpse, and #ch. 8:9every living thing died that was in the sea.
4The third angel poured out his bowl into #ch. 8:10 the rivers and the springs of water, and #Ex. 7:17-20they became blood. 5And I heard the angel in charge of the waters#16:5 Greek angel of the waters say,
#
Jer. 12:1; John 17:25 “Just are you, #ch. 15:4 O Holy One, #ch. 11:17; [ch. 1:4, 8; 4:8]who is and who was,
for you brought these judgments.
6For #ch. 18:24; [ch. 13:15] they have shed the blood of #ch. 11:18 saints and prophets,
and #[Isa. 49:26; Luke 11:49, 50]you have given them blood to drink.
It is what they deserve!”
7And I heard #ch. 6:9 the altar saying,
“Yes, Lord God the Almighty,
# ch. 15:3; 19:2; [Ps. 119:137] true and just are your judgments!”
8The fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and it was allowed to scorch people #ch. 9:17; [ch. 14:18]with fire. 9They were scorched by the fierce heat, and #ver. 11, 21 they cursed#16:9 Greek blasphemed; also verses 11, 21 the name of God who had power over these plagues. #[Dan. 5:22]; See ch. 2:21 They did not repent #[Dan. 5:23]; See ch. 11:13and give him glory.
10The fifth angel poured out his bowl on #ch. 13:2 the throne of the beast, and #ch. 9:2; Ex. 10:21its kingdom was plunged into darkness. People gnawed their tongues in anguish 11and cursed #ch. 11:13 the God of heaven for their pain and #ver. 2 sores. #See ch. 2:21They did not repent of their deeds.
12The sixth angel poured out his bowl on #ch. 9:14 the great river Euphrates, and #Isa. 11:15; 44:27; Jer. 50:38; 51:32, 36 its water was dried up, #[Isa. 41:2, 25; 46:11] to prepare the way for the kings #ch. 7:2from the east. 13And I saw, coming out of the mouth of #ch. 12:3, 9 the dragon and out of the mouth of #ch. 13:1 the beast and out of the mouth of #ch. 19:20; 20:10; [ch. 13:11, 14] the false prophet, three #ch. 18:2 unclean spirits like #[Ex. 8:6]frogs. 14For they are #[1 Tim. 4:1] demonic spirits, #See ch. 13:13 performing signs, who go abroad to the kings of the whole world, #ch. 20:8; [ch. 17:14; 19:19; 1 Kgs. 22:20] to assemble them for battle on #See ch. 6:17the great day of God the Almighty. 15(“Behold, #See ch. 3:3 I am coming like a thief! #ch. 3:2, 3; See Matt. 24:42 Blessed is the one who stays awake, keeping his garments on, #ch. 3:18that he may not go about naked and be seen exposed!”) 16And #ch. 19:19 they assembled them at the place that in Hebrew is called #Zech. 12:11; See Judg. 5:19Armageddon.
The Seventh Bowl
17The seventh angel poured out his bowl into #[Eph. 2:2] the air, and a loud voice came out of the temple, from the throne, saying, #See ch. 10:6“It is done!” 18And there were #ch. 4:5; 8:5; 11:19 flashes of lightning, rumblings,#16:18 Or voices, or sounds peals of thunder, and #ch. 6:12; 11:13 a great earthquake #Dan. 12:1; Joel 2:2; Matt. 24:21such as there had never been since man was on the earth, so great was that earthquake. 19#ch. 11:8 The great city #[ch. 11:13] was split into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell, and God #ch. 18:5; [Ps. 74:18] remembered #See ch. 14:8 Babylon the great, #See ch. 14:10to make her drain the cup of the wine of the fury of his wrath. 20And #See ch. 6:14every island fled away, and no mountains were to be found. 21And #ch. 11:19 great hailstones, about one hundred pounds#16:21 Greek a talent in weight each, fell from heaven on people; and #ver. 9, 11 they cursed God for #Ex. 9:23-25the plague of the hail, because the plague was so severe.

The Seven Bowls of God’s Wrath
1Then I heard a loud voice from the temple saying to the seven angels, “Go, pour out the seven bowls of God’s wrath on the earth.”
2The first angel went and poured out his bowl on the land, and ugly, festering sores broke out on the people who had the mark of the beast and worshiped its image.
3The second angel poured out his bowl on the sea, and it turned into blood like that of a dead person, and every living thing in the sea died.
4The third angel poured out his bowl on the rivers and springs of water, and they became blood. 5Then I heard the angel in charge of the waters say:
“You are just in these judgments, O Holy One,
you who are and who were;
6for they have shed the blood of your holy people and your prophets,
and you have given them blood to drink as they deserve.”
7And I heard the altar respond:
“Yes, Lord God Almighty,
true and just are your judgments.”
8The fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and the sun was allowed to scorch people with fire. 9They were seared by the intense heat and they cursed the name of God, who had control over these plagues, but they refused to repent and glorify him.
10The fifth angel poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast, and its kingdom was plunged into darkness. People gnawed their tongues in agony 11and cursed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, but they refused to repent of what they had done.
12The sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up to prepare the way for the kings from the East. 13Then I saw three impure spirits that looked like frogs; they came out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast and out of the mouth of the false prophet. 14They are demonic spirits that perform signs, and they go out to the kings of the whole world, to gather them for the battle on the great day of God Almighty.
15 “Look, I come like a thief! Blessed is the one who stays awake and remains clothed, so as not to go naked and be shamefully exposed.”
16Then they gathered the kings together to the place that in Hebrew is called Armageddon.
17The seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air, and out of the temple came a loud voice from the throne, saying, “It is done!” 18Then there came flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder and a severe earthquake. No earthquake like it has ever occurred since mankind has been on earth, so tremendous was the quake. 19The great city split into three parts, and the cities of the nations collapsed. God remembered Babylon the Great and gave her the cup filled with the wine of the fury of his wrath. 20Every island fled away and the mountains could not be found. 21From the sky huge hailstones, each weighing about a hundred pounds,#16:21 Or about 45 kilograms fell on people. And they cursed God on account of the plague of hail, because the plague was so terrible.
