Revelation 1

Prologue

Greeting to the Seven Churches

4John to the seven churches that are in Asia:

Grace to you and peace from #ver. 8; ch. 4:8; Heb. 13:8him #Ex. 3:14 (Gk.) who is and #John 1:1who was and who is to come, and from #ch. 3:1; 4:5; 5:6the seven spirits who are before his throne, 5and from Jesus Christ #ch. 3:14; John 18:37; 1 Tim. 6:13; [ch. 2:13; Ps. 89:37; Isa. 55:4] the faithful witness, #Col. 1:18; [Ps. 89:27; Acts 26:23; 1 Cor. 15:20] the firstborn of the dead, and #ch. 17:14; 19:16; [Ps. 89:27] the ruler of kings on earth.

Vision of the Son of Man

9I, John, your brother and #[Phil. 4:14] partner in #John 16:33the tribulation and #2 Tim. 2:12the kingdom and #ch. 3:10the patient endurance that are in Jesus, was on the island called Patmos #See ver. 2on account of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus. 10#ch. 4:2; [ch. 17:3; 21:10; 1 Kgs. 18:12; Ezek. 3:12; Matt. 22:43; 2 Cor. 12:2] I was in the Spirit #Acts 20:7; 1 Cor. 16:2on the Lord’s day, and I heard behind me a loud voice #ch. 4:1like a trumpet 11saying, #ver. 2, 19“Write what you see in a book and send it to the seven churches, to Ephesus and to Smyrna and to Pergamum and to Thyatira and to Sardis and to Philadelphia and to Laodicea.”

12Then I turned to see the voice that was speaking to me, and on turning I saw #ver. 20; ch. 2:1; Ex. 25:37; 2 Chr. 4:20; Zech. 4:2; [ch. 11:4]seven golden lampstands, 13and in the midst of the lampstands #Dan. 7:13one like #ch. 14:14; Dan. 10:16a son of man, #Dan. 10:5clothed with a long robe and #ch. 15:6with a golden sash around his chest. 14#Dan. 7:9The hairs of his head were white, like white wool, like snow. #ch. 2:18; 19:12; [Dan. 10:6]His eyes were like a flame of fire, 15#Ezek. 1:7; Dan. 10:6his feet were like burnished bronze, refined in a furnace, and #ch. 14:2; 19:6; Ezek. 43:2his voice was like the roar of many waters. 16#ver. 20; ch. 2:1; 3:1In his right hand he held seven stars, #ch. 19:15; [ch. 2:12, 16; Isa. 49:2; Eph. 6:17; Heb. 4:12] from his mouth came a sharp two-edged sword, and #Matt. 17:2his face was like the sun shining #Judg. 5:31in full strength.

But #Dan. 8:17, 18; 10:9, 10, 15; [Luke 24:37; John 21:12] he laid his right hand on me, #Matt. 17:7saying, “Fear not, #ch. 2:8; 22:13; Isa. 41:4; 44:6; 48:12I am the first and the last, 18and the living one. #Rom. 6:9; 14:9I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and #[ch. 9:1; 20:1]I have the keys of Death and Hades. 19#ver. 2, 11Write therefore #ver. 12-16the things that you have seen, those that are and those that are to take place after this. 20As for the mystery of the seven stars that you saw in my right hand, and #See ver. 12the seven golden lampstands, the seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and #[Matt. 5:14, 15]the seven lampstands are the seven churches.

1이것은 #또는 ‘예수 그리스도께서 계시하신 일들의 기록입니다’예수 그리스도의 계시입니다. 이 계시는 곧 일어나야 할 일들을 그 종들에게 보이시려고, 하나님께서 그리스도에게 주신 것입니다. 그런데 그리스도께서는 자기의 천사를 보내셔서, 자기의 종 요한에게 이것을 알려 주셨습니다. 2요한은, 하나님의 말씀과 예수 그리스도의 증언 곧 자기가 본 것을 다 증언하였습니다. 3이 예언의 말씀을 읽는 사람과 듣는 사람들과 그 안에 기록되어 있는 것을 지키는 사람들은 복이 있습니다. 그 때가 가까이 왔기 때문입니다.

예수 그리스도께서는 우리를 사랑하시며, 자기의 피로 우리의 죄에서 우리를 #다른 고대 사본들에는 ‘씻어’해방하여 주셨고, 6우리로 하여금 나라가 되게 하시어 자기 아버지 하나님을 섬기는 제사장으로 삼아 주셨습니다. 그에게 영광과 권세가 영원무궁 하도록 있기를 빕니다. 아멘.

그가 구름을 타고 오신다.

다 그를 볼 것이요,

8지금도 계시고 전에도 계셨고 앞으로 오실 전능하신 주 하나님께서 “나는 알파요 오메가다” 하고 말씀하십니다.

그리스도의 명령

9 예수 안에서 여러분의 형제요 예수 안에서 환난과 그 나라와 인내에 여러분과 더불어 참여한 사람인 나 요한은, 하나님의 말씀과 #그, ‘예수 그리스도의 증언’예수에 대한 증언 때문에 밧모라는 섬에 갇혀 있게 되었습니다. 10주님의 날에 내가 #그, ‘영’성령에 사로잡혀 내 뒤에서 나팔 소리처럼 울리는 큰 음성을 들었습니다. 11그 음성은 이렇게 말하였습니다. “네가 보는 것을 책에 기록하여, 일곱 교회, 곧 에베소와 서머나와 버가모와 두아디라와 사데와 빌라델비아와 라오디게아의 교회로 보내라.”

12그래서 나는 내게 들려 오는 그 음성을 알아보려고 돌아섰습니다. 돌아서서 보니, 일곱 금 촛대가 있는데, 13그 촛대 한가운데 #단 7:13‘인자와 같은 분’이 계셨습니다. 그는 발에 끌리는 긴 옷을 입고, 가슴에는 금띠를 띠고 계셨습니다. 14머리와 머리털은 흰 양털과 같이, 또 눈과 같이 희고, 눈은 불꽃과 같고, 15발은 풀무불에 달구어 낸 놋쇠와 같고, 음성은 큰 물소리와 같았습니다. 16또 오른손에는 일곱 별을 쥐고, 입에서는 날카로운 양날 칼이 나오고, 얼굴은 해가 강렬하게 비치는 것과 같았습니다.

17그를 뵐 때에, 내가 그의 발 앞에 엎어져서 죽은 사람과 같이 되니, 그가 내게 오른손을 얹고 말씀하셨습니다. “두려워하지 말아라. 나는 처음이며 마지막이요, 18살아 있는 자다. 나는 한 번은 죽었으나, 보아라, 영원무궁 하도록 살아 있어서, 사망과 #그, ‘하데스’지옥의 열쇠를 가지고 있다. 19그러므로 너는, 네가 본 것과 지금의 일들과 이 다음에 일어날 일들을 기록하여라. 20네가 본 내 오른손의 일곱 별과 일곱 금 촛대의 비밀은 이러하다. 일곱 별은 일곱 교회의 #또는 ‘천사’심부름꾼이요, 일곱 촛대는 일곱 교회다.”
