Psalm 94
94
The Lord Will Not Forsake His People
1O Lord, God of #Deut. 32:35, 41, 43; Isa. 35:4; Jer. 51:56; Nah. 1:2; Rom. 12:19 vengeance,
O God of vengeance, #See Ps. 50:2shine forth!
2 # See Ps. 7:6 Rise up, O #See Ps. 58:11 judge of the earth;
repay to the #Luke 1:51proud what they deserve!
3O Lord, #Rev. 6:10; See Ps. 74:10 how long shall the wicked,
how long shall #[Job 20:5]the wicked exult?
4They pour out their #Ps. 31:18; 1 Sam. 2:3; [Jude 15] arrogant words;
all #Ps. 92:7, 9; 125:5the evildoers boast.
5They #[Prov. 22:22; Isa. 3:15]crush your people, O Lord,
and afflict your heritage.
6They kill #[Isa. 10:2]the widow and the sojourner,
and murder #[Isa. 10:2]the fatherless;
7 # See Job 22:13 and they say, “The Lord does not see;
the God of Jacob does not perceive.”
8 # See Ps. 49:10 Understand, O dullest of the people!
Fools, when will you be wise?
9 # [Ex. 4:11; Prov. 20:12] He who planted the ear, does he not hear?
He who formed the eye, does he not see?
10He who #[Job 12:23] disciplines the nations, does he not rebuke?
He who #See Job 35:11teaches man knowledge—

and whom you teach out of your law,
13to give him #Job 34:29 rest from #Ps. 49:5 days of trouble,
until #Ps. 55:23a pit is dug for the wicked.

15for #[Isa. 42:3] justice will return to the righteous,
and all the upright in heart will #1 Sam. 12:14; 1 Kgs. 14:8follow it.
16 # See Ps. 12:5 Who rises up for me against the wicked?

Ps. 124:1, 2 If the Lord had not been my help,
my soul would soon have lived in the land of #See Ps. 31:17silence.
18When I thought, #Ps. 38:16; [Ps. 73:2] “My foot slips,”
your steadfast love, O Lord, #[Ps. 20:2]held me up.
19When the cares of my heart are many,
your consolations cheer my soul.
20Can #[Amos 6:3] wicked rulers be allied with you,
those who frame#94:20 Or fashion injustice by #Ps. 50:16; 58:2; Isa. 10:1statute?
21They #Matt. 27:1 band together against the life of the righteous
and condemn #Matt. 27:4the innocent to death.#94:21 Hebrew condemn innocent blood

Psalms 94
94
1O LORD, thou God to whom vengeance belongeth,
Thou God to whom vengeance belongeth, shine forth.
2Lift up thyself, thou judge of the earth:
Render to the proud their desert.
3 LORD, how long shall the wicked,
How long shall the wicked triumph?
4They prate, they speak arrogantly:
All the workers of iniquity boast themselves.
5They break in pieces thy people, O LORD,
And afflict thine heritage.
6They slay the widow and the stranger,
And murder the fatherless.
7And they say, The LORD shall not see,
Neither shall the God of Jacob consider.
8Consider, ye brutish among the people:
And ye fools, when will ye be wise?
9He that planted the ear, shall he not hear?
He that formed the eye, shall he not see?
10He that chastiseth the nations, shall not he correct,
Even he that teacheth man knowledge?
11The LORD knoweth the thoughts of man,
That they are vanity.
12Blessed is the man whom thou chastenest, O LORD,
And teachest out of thy law;
13That thou mayest give him rest from the days of adversity,
Until the pit be digged for the wicked.
14For the LORD will not cast off his people,
Neither will he forsake his inheritance.
15For judgement shall return unto righteousness:
And all the upright in heart shall follow it.
16Who will rise up for me against the evil-doers?
Who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?
17Unless the LORD had been my help,
My soul had soon dwelt in silence.
18When I said, My foot slippeth;
Thy mercy, O LORD, held me up.
19In the multitude of my thoughts within me
Thy comforts delight my soul.
20Shall the throne of wickedness have fellowship with thee,
Which frameth mischief by statute?
21They gather themselves together against the soul of the righteous,
And condemn the innocent blood.
22But the LORD hath been my high tower;
And my God the rock of my refuge.
23And he hath brought upon them their own iniquity,
And shall cut them off in their own evil;
the LORD our God shall cut them off.
