Psalm 85

Revive Us Again
To the choirmaster. A Psalm of #Ps. 42, titlethe Sons of Korah.
1 Lord, you were #Ps. 77:7 favorable to your land;
you #Ps. 14:7restored the fortunes of Jacob.
2You #Ps. 32:1forgave the iniquity of your people;
you #Ps. 32:1covered all their sin. Selah
3You withdrew all your wrath;
you #Ps. 78:38; 106:23; Ex. 32:12; Deut. 13:17; Jonah 3:9turned from your hot anger.
4 # See Ps. 80:3 Restore us again, O God of our salvation,
and put away your indignation toward us!
5 # [Ps. 79:5] Will you be angry with us forever?
Will you prolong your anger to all generations?
6Will you not #Ps. 71:20 revive us again,
that your people may #Ps. 90:14; 149:2rejoice in you?
7Show us your steadfast love, O Lord,
and grant us your salvation.
8 # [Hab. 2:1] Let me hear what God the Lord will speak,
for he will #Zech. 9:10; [Hag. 2:9] speak peace to his people, to his #See Ps. 50:5 saints;
but let them not #[2 Pet. 2:21] turn back to #[Ps. 49:13]folly.
9Surely his #Isa. 46:13 salvation is near to those who fear him,
that #Zech. 2:5; [John 1:14]glory may dwell in our land.
10 #
Ps. 89:14; See Ps. 40:11 Steadfast love and faithfulness meet;
# [Isa. 45:8]; See Ps. 72:3 righteousness and peace kiss each other.
11Faithfulness springs up from the ground,
and righteousness looks down from the sky.
12Yes, #Ps. 84:11; [James 1:17] the Lord will give what is good,
and our land #See Ps. 67:6will yield its increase.
13 #
Ps. 89:14; Isa. 58:8 Righteousness will go before him
and make his footsteps a way.

Psalms 85
85
For the music director. A psalm of the descendants of Korah
1Lord, you have shown your kindness to your land; you have restored Jacob's prosperity.#85:1. From the context is appears this psalm was written after the Babylonian captivity.
2You took away your people's guilt; you forgave all their sins. Selah.
3You took back your fury; you turned away from your fierce anger.
4Bring us back to you, God of our salvation! Take away your anger towards us.
5Are you going to be furious with us forever? Will you stay angry with us for all future generations?
6Won't you restore our lives so your people can find happiness in you?
7Show us your trustworthy love, Lord! Give us your salvation!
8Let me hear what God has to say. God speaks peace to his people, to those who trust in him. But they must not return to their foolish ways.
9Truly God's salvation is with those who do as he says. His glorious presence will live with us in our land.
10Trustworthiness and faithful love join together; goodness and peace have kissed each other.
11What is true grows up from the earth; what is right looks down from heaven.
12The Lord will certainly give us all that is good, and our land will produce fine crops.
13Truth and right go ahead of him to prepare a path for him to walk on.
