Joy Comes with the Morning
A Psalm of David. A song at the dedication of #2 Sam. 5:11; 1 Chr. 22:1the temple.
1I will #Ps. 107:32 extol you, O Lord, for you have drawn me up
and have not let my foes #Ps. 25:2; 35:19, 24; [Ps. 13:4]rejoice over me.
2O Lord my God, I #Ps. 88:13 cried to you for help,
and you have #See Ps. 6:2healed me.
3O Lord, you have brought up my soul from #See Ps. 16:10 Sheol;
you restored me to life from among those who #Ps. 28:1go down to the pit.#30:3 Or to life, that I should not go down to the pit
4Sing praises to the Lord, O you #Ps. 50:5 his saints,
and #Ps. 97:12; [1 Chr. 16:4]give thanks to his holy name.#30:4 Hebrew to the memorial of his holiness (see Exodus 3:15)
5 # [Ps. 103:9; Job 33:26; Isa. 26:20; 54:7, 8] For his anger is but for a moment,
and #Ps. 63:3 his favor is for a lifetime.#30:5 Or and in his favor is life
# [2 Cor. 4:17, 18] Weeping may tarry for the night,
but #Ps. 126:5 (Heb.)joy comes with the morning.
6As for me, I said in my #[Job 29:18; Prov. 1:32] prosperity,
“I shall never be #Ps. 10:6moved.”
7By your favor, O Lord,
you made my #[2 Sam. 5:9] mountain stand strong;
you #Ps. 104:29; [Deut. 31:17] hid your face;
I was #[2 Sam. 24:10]dismayed.
8To you, O Lord, I cry,
and #Ps. 142:1to the Lord I plead for mercy:
9“What profit is there in my death,#30:9 Hebrew in my blood
if I go down to the pit?#30:9 Or to corruption
Will #See Ps. 6:5the dust praise you?
Will it tell of your faithfulness?
10 #
Ps. 27:7
Hear, O Lord, and be merciful to me!
O Lord, be my helper!”
11You have turned for me my mourning into #Ex. 15:20; 2 Sam. 6:14; Jer. 31:4, 13; [Ps. 149:3; 150:4; Lam. 5:15]dancing;
you have loosed my sackcloth
and clothed me with gladness,
12that my #See Ps. 16:9glory may sing your praise and not be silent.
O Lord my God, I will give thanks to you forever!
