I Will Bless the Lord
Of David.
1 # See Ps. 7:8 Vindicate me, O Lord,
for I have #ver. 11 walked in my integrity,
and I have #See Ps. 11:1trusted in the Lord without wavering.
2 # See Ps. 7:9; 17:3; 139:23 Prove me, O Lord, and try me;
test my heart and #Ps. 7:9my mind.#26:2 Hebrew test my kidneys and my heart
3For your #[Ps. 25:10] steadfast love is before my eyes,
and I #2 Kgs. 20:3; [Ps. 86:11]walk in your #[Ps. 25:10] faithfulness.
4I do not #See Ps. 1:1 sit with men of #Job 11:11falsehood,
nor do I consort with hypocrites.
5I #Ps. 31:6; 139:21, 22hate the assembly of evildoers,
and I will not sit with the wicked.
6I #Ps. 73:13; [Ex. 30:19, 20; Deut. 21:6]wash my hands in innocence
and go around your altar, O Lord,
7proclaiming thanksgiving aloud,
and telling all your #See Ps. 9:1wondrous deeds.
8O Lord, I #[Ps. 27:4]love the habitation of your house
and the place where your glory dwells.
9 # [Ps. 28:3] Do not sweep my soul away with sinners,
nor my life with bloodthirsty men,
10in whose hands are evil devices,
and whose right hands are full of #Ex. 23:8; Deut. 16:19bribes.
11But as for me, I shall walk in my integrity;
redeem me, and be gracious to me.
12My foot stands on #See Ps. 27:11 level ground;
in #Ps. 22:25the great assembly I will bless the Lord.

Prayer of Innocence
1Of David.
I
Judge me, Lord!
For I have walked in my integrity.#Ps 7:9.
In the Lord I trust;
I do not falter.
2Examine me, Lord, and test me;
search my heart and mind.#Ps 17:3; 139:23.
3Your mercy is before my eyes;
I walk guided by your faithfulness.#Ps 86:11.
II
4I do not sit with worthless men,
nor with hypocrites do I mingle.
5I hate an evil assembly;
with the wicked I do not sit.
6I will wash my hands#I will wash my hands: the washing of hands was a liturgical act (Ex 30:19, 21; 40:31–32), symbolic of inner as well as outer cleanness, cf. Is 1:16. in innocence#Ps 73:13.
so that I may process around your altar, Lord,
7To hear the sound of thanksgiving,
and recount all your wondrous deeds.
8Lord, I love the refuge of your house,
the site of the dwelling-place of your glory.#Ps 29:9; 63:3; Ex 24:16; 25:8.
III
9Do not take me away with sinners,
nor my life with the men of blood,#Ps 28:3.
10In whose hands there is a plot,
their right hands full of bribery.
11But I walk in my integrity;#Ps 101:6.
redeem me, be gracious to me!#Ps 25:16.
12My foot stands on level ground;#On level ground: in safety, where there is no danger of tripping and falling. In assemblies: at the Temple. Having walked around the altar, the symbol of God’s presence, the psalmist blesses God.
in assemblies I will bless the Lord.#Ps 22:23; 35:18; 149:1.
