19
The Law of the Lord Is Perfect
To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David.
1 #
Ps. 50:6; [Rom. 1:19, 20] The heavens declare the glory of God,
and the sky above#19:1 Hebrew the expanse; compare Genesis 1:6–8 proclaims his handiwork.
2Day to day pours out speech,
and night to night reveals knowledge.
3There is no speech, nor are there words,
whose voice is not heard.

and their words to the end of the world.
In them he has set a tent for #[Eccles. 1:5]the sun,

and, like a strong man, runs its course with joy.
6Its rising is from the end of the heavens,
and its circuit to the end of them,
and there is nothing hidden from its heat.

11Moreover, by them is your servant warned;

Then I shall be blameless,
and innocent of great transgression.
14Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
be acceptable in your sight,
O Lord, my #See Ps. 18:2 rock and my #See Job 19:25redeemer.

The Witness of Creation and Scripture
For the choir director. A Davidic psalm.
1The heavens declare the glory of God,
and the sky # Or expanse proclaims the work of His hands. # Ps 50:6; Rm 1:19-20
2Day after day they pour out speech;
night after night they communicate knowledge. # Or Day to day pours out speech, and night to night communicates knowledge
3There is no speech; there are no words;
their voice is not heard.
4Their message # LXX, Sym, Syr, Vg; MT reads line has gone out to all the earth,
and their words to the ends of the world. # Rm 10:18
In the heavens # Lit In them He has pitched a tent for the sun. # Is 40:22
5It is like a groom coming from the # Lit his bridal chamber;
it rejoices like an athlete running a course.
6It rises from one end of the heavens
and circles # Lit its circuit is to their other end; # Ec 1:5
nothing is hidden from its heat.
7The instruction of the Lord is perfect,
renewing one’s life; # Ps 111:7
the testimony of the Lord is trustworthy,
making the inexperienced wise. # Ps 93:5; 119:130
8The precepts of the Lord are right,
making the heart glad; # Ps 119:14
the command of the Lord is radiant,
making the eyes light up. # Ps 13:3
9The fear of the Lord is pure,
enduring forever; # Ps 111:10
the ordinances of the Lord are reliable
and altogether righteous. # Ps 119:30
10They are more desirable than gold —
than an abundance of pure gold; # Ps 119:72,127
and sweeter than honey,
which comes from the honeycomb. # Ps 119:103
11In addition, Your servant is warned by them;
there is great reward in keeping them. # Pr 29:18
12Who perceives his unintentional sins?
Cleanse me from my hidden faults. # Ps 90:8
13Moreover, keep Your servant from willful sins; # Nm 15:30
do not let them rule over me. # Gn 4:7
Then I will be innocent
and cleansed from blatant rebellion. # Ps 51:7; Ezk 36:25
14May the words of my mouth
and the meditation of my heart
be acceptable to You, # Ps 104:34
Lord, my rock and my Redeemer. # Ps 78:35
