He Heals the Brokenhearted
1 # See Ps. 135:1 Praise the Lord!
For #Ps. 92:1 it is good to sing praises to our God;
for #Ps. 135:3 it is pleasant,#147:1 Or for he is beautiful and #Ps. 33:1a song of praise is fitting.
2The Lord #Ps. 51:18; 102:16 builds up Jerusalem;
he #Deut. 30:3; Isa. 11:12; 27:13; 56:8; Ezek. 39:28gathers the outcasts of Israel.
3He heals #Ps. 34:18 the brokenhearted
and #Ezek. 34:16binds up their wounds.
4He #[Gen. 15:5] determines the number of the stars;
he #Isa. 40:26gives to all of them their names.
5 #
Ps. 48:1 Great is our Lord, and #Nah. 1:3 abundant in power;
#
Isa. 40:28; [Job 5:9] his understanding is beyond measure.
6The Lord #[Ps. 146:8, 9]lifts up the humble;#147:6 Or afflicted
he casts the wicked to the ground.

Ex. 15:21; [Ps. 95:1, 2] Sing to the Lord with thanksgiving;
make melody to our God on #See 1 Chr. 15:16the lyre!
8He covers the heavens with clouds;
he prepares #See Job 5:10 rain for the earth;
he makes #Ps. 104:14; Job 38:27grass grow on the hills.
9He #Ps. 104:27, 28 gives to the beasts their food,
and to #See Job 38:41the young ravens that cry.
10His delight is not in #Ps. 33:17the strength of the horse,
nor his pleasure in the legs of a man,
11but the Lord #Ps. 149:4 takes pleasure in those who fear him,
in those who #Ps. 33:18hope in his steadfast love.
12Praise the Lord, O Jerusalem!
Praise your God, O Zion!
13For he strengthens #Neh. 7:3the bars of your gates;
he blesses your children within you.
14He #Ex. 34:24; Prov. 16:7; Isa. 60:17, 18 makes peace in your borders;
he #Ps. 132:15 fills you with the #Ps. 81:16; Deut. 32:14finest of the wheat.
15He #[Ps. 148:8]sends out his command to the earth;
his word runs swiftly.
16He gives #Job 37:6 snow like wool;
he scatters #[Job 38:29]frost like ashes.
17He hurls down his crystals of #Job 37:10 ice like crumbs;
who can stand before his #Job 37:9cold?
18He #ver. 15; [Job 37:12]; See Ps. 33:9; 107:20sends out his word, and melts them;
he makes his wind blow and the waters flow.
19He declares his word to Jacob,
his #Mal. 4:4; [Ps. 78:5]; See Deut. 33:2-4statutes and rules#147:19 Or and just decrees to Israel.

Psalms 147
147
1Praise the Lord because he is good.
Sing praises to our God.
It is good and pleasant to praise him.
2The Lord rebuilds Jerusalem.
He brings back the Israelites who were taken as prisoners.
3He heals their broken hearts
and bandages their wounds.
4He counts the stars
and knows each of them by name.
5Our Lord is great and powerful.
There is no limit to what he knows.
6The Lord supports the humble,
but he shames the wicked.
7Give thanks to the Lord.
Praise our God with harps.
8He fills the sky with clouds.
He sends rain to the earth.
He makes the grass grow on the mountains.
9He gives food to the animals.
He feeds the young birds that cry out.
10War horses and powerful soldiers
are not what he cares about.
11The Lord enjoys people who worship him
and trust in his faithful love.
12Jerusalem, praise the Lord!
Zion, praise your God!
13He makes your gates strong,
and he blesses the people in your city.
14He brought peace to your country,
so you have plenty of grain for food.
15He gives a command to the earth,
and it quickly obeys.
16He makes the snow fall until the ground is as white as wool.
He makes sleet blow through the air like dust.
17He makes hail fall like rocks from the sky.
No one can stand the cold he sends.
18Then he gives another command, and warm air begins to blow.
The ice melts, and water begins to flow.
19He gave his commands to Jacob.
He gave his laws and rules to Israel.
20He did not do this for any other nation.
He did not teach his laws to other people.
Praise the Lord!
