Psalm 141
141
Give Ear to My Voice
A Psalm of David.
1O Lord, I call upon you; #Ps. 40:13; 70:5hasten to me!
Give ear to my voice when I call to you!
2Let #Luke 1:10; Rev. 5:8; 8:3, 4 my prayer be counted as incense before you,
and #See Ps. 28:2 the lifting up of my hands as #See Ex. 29:41the evening sacrifice!
3 #
Ps. 34:13 Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth;
#
Mic. 7:5
keep watch over the door of my lips!
4 #
Ps. 119:36 Do not let my heart incline to any evil,
to busy myself with wicked deeds
in company with men who #ver. 9; Ps. 94:4 work iniquity,
and #Prov. 23:6let me not eat of their delicacies!
5 # [Prov. 9:8; 19:25; 25:12; 27:6; Eccles. 7:5] Let a righteous man strike me—it is a kindness;
let him rebuke me—it is oil for my head;
let my head not refuse it.
Yet #[Ps. 109:4]my prayer is continually against their evil deeds.
6When their judges are #2 Chr. 25:12; [Luke 4:29]thrown over the cliff,#141:6 Or When their judges fall into the hands of the Rock
then they shall hear my words, for they are pleasant.
7As when one plows and breaks up the earth,
so shall our bones #Ps. 53:5; [Ezek. 37:1]be scattered at the mouth of Sheol.#141:7 The meaning of the Hebrew in verses 6, 7 is uncertain
8But #Ps. 25:15 my eyes are toward you, O God, my Lord;
# See Ps. 11:1 in you I seek refuge; leave me not defenseless!#141:8 Hebrew refuge; do not pour out my life!
9Keep me from #See Ps. 140:5the trap that they have laid for me
and from the snares of evildoers!
10Let the wicked #[Ps. 7:15]fall into their own nets,
while I pass by safely.

Psalms 141
141
A psalm of David.
1Lord, I'm calling out to you! Please hurry up and help me! Please listen to me when I cry out to you!
2May my prayer be like incense before you, my uplifted hands like an evening offering.
3Lord, make sure I don't say anything I shouldn't—keep a watch over my conversations.
4Don't let me think about evil things or take part in doing anything wrong with wicked people. I won't join in eating fancy food at their feasts.#141:4. This may refer to pagan festivals.
5Let a good person punish me in love—let them correct me. It will be like an anointing—I won't refuse it. But I still pray against those who do evil.#141:5. The Hebrew in this verse and the next is not clear.
6They shall be thrown down by the power of the rock that judges them, and then they will recognize what I said was true!
7Just as the earth is broken up by the plow, so shall their bones be scattered at the mouth of Sheol.#141:7. The place of the dead. This may mean they do not receive a proper burial.
8But I'm looking to you, Lord God, for I find protection in you. Don't let me die!
9Keep me safe from the traps they have set to catch me, from the snares of evil people.
10Let them fall into their own traps while I pass by unharmed.
