Ps. 71:4; 119:153, 170 Deliver me, O Lord, from evil men;
preserve me from #Ps. 18:48; Prov. 3:31violent men,

and #See Ps. 56:6stir up wars continually.
3They make #[Ps. 52:2] their tongue sharp as #Ps. 58:4 a serpent’s,
and #Ps. 10:7 under their lips is the #Cited Rom. 3:13venom of asps. Selah
4Guard me, O Lord, from the hands of the wicked;
preserve me from #[See ver. 1 above]violent men,
who have planned to trip up my feet.
5The arrogant have #Ps. 35:7; 141:9; 142:3; Jer. 18:22 hidden a trap for me,
and with cords they have spread #Job 18:8-10 a net;#140:5 Or they have spread cords as a net

Ps. 142:5 I say to the Lord, You are my God;
give ear to #Ps. 28:2; 31:22; 130:2the voice of my pleas for mercy, O Lord!
7O Lord, my Lord, #Ps. 28:8the strength of my salvation,
you have covered my head in the day of battle.

9As for the head of those who surround me,
let #[Prov. 12:13; 18:7]; See Ps. 7:16the mischief of their lips overwhelm them!
10Let #[Ps. 11:6; 18:13]burning coals fall upon them!
Let them be cast into fire,

13Surely #[Ps. 64:10] the righteous shall give thanks to your name;

PSALM 140.
1A psalm of David.
I have cried to the, O Lord, hear me: hearken to my voice, when I cry to thee.
2Let my prayer be directed as incense in thy sight; the lifting up of my hands, as evening sacrifice.
3Set a watch, O Lord, before my mouth: and a door round about my lips.
4Incline not my heart to evil words; to make excuses in sins. With men that work iniquity: and I will not communicate with the choicest of them.
5The just shall correct me in mercy, and shall reprove me: but let not the oil of the sinner fatten my head. For my prayer also shall still be against the things with which they are well pleased:
6their judges falling upon the rock have been swallowed up. They shall hear my words, for they have prevailed:
7as when the thickness of the earth is broken up upon the ground: Our bones are scattered by the side of hell.
8But o to thee, O Lord, Lord, are my eyes: in thee have I put my trust, take not away my soul.
9Keep me from the snare, which they have laid for me, and from the stumblingblocks of them that work iniquity.
10The wicked shall fall in his net: I am alone until I pass.
