Psalm 126

Restore Our Fortunes, O Lord
A Song of #[See Ps. 120, title]Ascents.
1When the Lord #See Ps. 14:7 restored the fortunes of Zion,
we were like those who #[Acts 12:9]dream.
2Then our #Job 8:21 mouth was filled with laughter,
and our tongue with shouts of joy;
then they said among the nations,
# See Ps. 71:19 “The Lord has done great things for them.”
3The Lord has done great things for us;
we are glad.
4Restore our fortunes, O Lord,
like streams in the Negeb!
5 # [Ezra 6:22; Neh. 12:43; Jer. 31:9; Gal. 6:9]; See Hag. 2:3-9 Those who sow in tears
shall reap with shouts of joy!
6He who goes out weeping,
bearing the seed for sowing,
shall come home with shouts of joy,
bringing his sheaves with him.

Psalms 126
126
PSALM 126.
1A gradual canticle.
Unless the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it. Unless the Lord keep the city, he watcheth in vain that keepeth it.
2It is vain for you to rise before light, rise ye after you have sitten, you that eat the bread of sorrow. When he shall give sleep to his beloved,
3behold the inheritance of the Lord are children: the reward, the fruit of the womb.
4As arrows in the hand of the mighty, so the children of them that have been shaken.
5Blessed is the man that hath filled the desire with them; he shall not be confounded when he shall speak to his enemies in the gate.
