Our Help Is in the Name of the Lord
A Song of #[See Ps. 120, title]Ascents. Of David.

Ps. 94:17 If it had not been the Lord who was on our side—
#
Ps. 129:1
let Israel now say—
2if it had not been the Lord who was on our side
when people rose up against us,
3then they would have #See Ps. 56:1swallowed us up alive,
when their anger was kindled against us;
4then #See Ps. 32:6; Job 22:11 the flood would have #Ps. 69:2; Isa. 8:8 swept us away,
the torrent would have gone #Ps. 69:1over us;
5then over us would have gone
the raging waters.
6Blessed be the Lord,
who has not given us
as prey to their teeth!
7We have escaped like a bird
from #See Ps. 91:3the snare of the fowlers;
the snare is broken,
and we have escaped!

Ps. 121:2
Our help is in the name of the Lord,
who made heaven and earth.

Psalm 124
124
1 A Canticle in steps. Those who trust in the Lord will be like the mountain of Zion. He will not be disturbed for eternity, who dwells
2 in Jerusalem. Mountains surround it. And the Lord surrounds his people, from this time forward and even forever.
3 For the Lord will not allow the rod of sinners to remain over the lot of the just, so that the just may not extend their hands toward iniquity.
4 Do good, O Lord, to the good and to the upright of heart.
5 But those who turn away into obligation, the Lord will lead away with the workers of iniquity. Peace be upon Israel.
