Let the Redeemed of the Lord Say So
1 # See Ps. 105:1 Oh give thanks to the Lord, #See Ps. 100:5for he is good,
for his steadfast love endures forever!
2Let #Ps. 106:10 the redeemed of the Lord say so,
whom he has #Isa. 62:12; 63:4redeemed from trouble#107:2 Or from the hand of the foe
3and #Ps. 106:47; Deut. 30:3; Isa. 11:12; 43:5; 56:8; Jer. 29:14; 31:8, 10; Ezek. 20:34, 41; 39:27gathered in from the lands,

from the north and from the south.
4Some #ver. 40; [Deut. 32:10] wandered in desert wastes,
finding no way #ver. 36to a city to dwell in;
5hungry and thirsty,
their soul #Ps. 77:3fainted within them.
6Then they #ver. 13, 19, 28; Ps. 106:44cried to the Lord in their trouble,
and he delivered them from their distress.
7He led them by #Ezra 8:21 a straight way
till they reached #[See ver. 4 above]a city to dwell in.
8 # ver. 15, 21, 31 Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love,
for his wondrous works to the children of man!
9For he #[Ps. 34:10; 146:7] satisfies the longing soul,
#

and the hungry soul he fills with good things.
10 #
Luke 1:79; [Isa. 42:7; 49:9; Mic. 7:8] Some sat in darkness and in #ver. 14; Job 10:21 the shadow of death,
prisoners in #[Job 36:8]affliction and in irons,
11for they #Ps. 106:7, 33, 43; See Ps. 78:40 had rebelled against the words of God,
and #Prov. 1:30; 5:12; 15:5; [Deut. 31:20; Luke 7:30]spurned the counsel of the Most High.
12So he bowed their hearts down with hard labor;
they fell down, #See Ps. 22:11with none to help.

and he delivered them from their distress.
14He brought them out of #See ver. 10 darkness and the shadow of death,
and #[Ps. 2:3]burst their bonds apart.
15 # ver. 8, 21, 31 Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love,

16For he #Isa. 45:2shatters the doors of bronze
and cuts in two the bars of iron.
17Some were #Prov. 1:7; 14:9fools through their sinful ways,
and because of their iniquities suffered affliction;

and they #Ps. 88:3; Job 33:22 drew near to #See Job 38:17the gates of death.
19 # ver. 6, 13, 28 Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble,
and he delivered them from their distress.
20He #Ps. 147:15, 18; [Matt. 8:8] sent out his word and #Ps. 30:2, 3; 2 Kgs. 20:5; Job 33:29, 30 healed them,
and #Ps. 103:4delivered them from their destruction.
21 # ver. 8, 15, 31 Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love,

22And let them #See Ps. 50:14 offer sacrifices of thanksgiving,
and #Ps. 9:11; See Ps. 118:17 tell of his deeds in #Ps. 105:43songs of joy!
23Some #Isa. 42:10went down to the sea in ships,
doing business on the great waters;
24they saw the deeds of the Lord,
his wondrous works in the deep.
25For he #Ps. 105:31, 34 commanded and #Ps. 148:8; Jonah 1:4raised the stormy wind,
which lifted up the waves of the sea.
26They mounted up to heaven; they went down to the depths;
their courage #Ps. 119:28; See Ps. 22:14melted away in their evil plight;

and he delivered them from their distress.
29He #See Ps. 65:7made the storm be still,

and he brought them to their desired haven.
31 # ver. 8, 15, 21 Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love,
for his wondrous works to the children of man!
32Let them #See Ps. 99:5 extol him in #Ps. 22:22, 25the congregation of the people,
and praise him in the assembly of the elders.
33He #Isa. 50:2; [Isa. 42:15]turns rivers into a desert,
springs of water into thirsty ground,
34 # [Gen. 13:10; 14:3; Deut. 29:23]; See Gen. 19:24-28 a fruitful land into a salty waste,
because of the evil of its inhabitants.
35He #Ps. 114:8; Isa. 41:18; [Isa. 35:6, 7; 43:19, 20] turns a desert into pools of water,
#
Job 38:26, 27 a parched land into springs of water.
36And there he lets the hungry dwell,
and they establish #ver. 4, 7a city to live in;
37they sow fields and plant vineyards
and get a fruitful yield.
38 #
Gen. 12:2; 17:20; Ex. 1:7 By his blessing they multiply greatly,
and he does not let their livestock diminish.
39When they are diminished and brought low
through oppression, evil, and sorrow,
40 #
Job 12:21 he pours contempt on princes
and #Job 12:24 makes them wander #[Deut. 32:10]in trackless wastes;
41but #Ps. 113:7, 8; 1 Sam. 2:8 he raises up the needy out of affliction
and #Job 21:11makes their families like flocks.
42 # See Job 22:19 The upright see it and are glad,
and #See Ps. 63:11all wickedness shuts its mouth.
43 # [Ps. 64:9; Jer. 9:12; Hos. 14:9] Whoever is wise, let him attend to these things;
let them consider the steadfast love of the Lord.

BOOK V
1O give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
for his steadfast love endures for ever!
2Let the redeemed of the Lord say so,
whom he has redeemed from trouble
3and gathered in from the lands,
from the east and from the west,
from the north and from the south.
4Some wandered in desert wastes,
finding no way to a city to dwell in;

8Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love,
for his wonderful works to the sons of men!
9For he satisfies him who is thirsty,
and the hungry he fills with good things.

they fell down, with none to help.
13Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble,
and he delivered them from their distress;
14he brought them out of darkness and gloom,
and broke their bonds asunder.
15Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love,
for his wonderful works to the sons of men!
16For he shatters the doors of bronze,
and cuts in two the bars of iron.
17Some were sick#107.17 Cn: Heb fools through their sinful ways,

20he sent forth his word, and healed them,
and delivered them from destruction.
21Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love,

22And let them offer sacrifices of thanksgiving,
and tell of his deeds in songs of joy!

and praise him in the assembly of the elders.
33He turns rivers into a desert,
springs of water into thirsty ground,
34a fruitful land into a salty waste,
because of the wickedness of its inhabitants.
35He turns a desert into pools of water,
a parched land into springs of water.
36And there he lets the hungry dwell,
and they establish a city to live in;
37they sow fields, and plant vineyards,
and get a fruitful yield.
38By his blessing they multiply greatly;
and he does not let their cattle decrease.
39When they are diminished and brought low
through oppression, trouble, and sorrow,
40he pours contempt upon princes
and makes them wander in trackless wastes;
41but he raises up the needy out of affliction,

42The upright see it and are glad;
and all wickedness stops its mouth.
43Whoever is wise, let him give heed to these things;
let men consider the steadfast love of the Lord.
