Tell of All His Wondrous Works
1 #
Ps. 106:1; 1 Chr. 16:34; Isa. 12:4; For ver. 1-15, see 1 Chr. 16:8-22 Oh give thanks to the Lord; #Ps. 99:6; 116:13, 17; [Gen. 4:26] call upon his name;
#
Ps. 145:4, 5, 11, 12 make known his deeds among the peoples!
2Sing to him, sing praises to him;
#
Ps. 77:12
tell of all his wondrous works!
3Glory in his holy name;
let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice!
4Seek the Lord and his #See Ps. 78:61 strength;
# [Ps. 27:8] seek his presence continually!
5Remember the #Ps. 77:11; See Ps. 72:18 wondrous works that he has done,
his miracles, and #Ex. 6:6; 7:4the judgments he uttered,
6O offspring of #ver. 42 Abraham, his servant,
children of Jacob, his #ver. 43; Ps. 106:5; [Ps. 135:4]chosen ones!
7He is the Lord our God;
his #Isa. 26:9judgments are in all the earth.
8He #ver. 42; Ps. 106:45; 111:5; Luke 1:72 remembers his covenant forever,
the word that he commanded, for #Deut. 7:9a thousand generations,
9 #
Gen. 17:2; See Gen. 22:15-18 the covenant that he made with Abraham,
his #Gen. 26:3sworn promise to Isaac,
10which he confirmed to #Gen. 28:13, 14; 35:11, 12Jacob as a statute,
to Israel as an everlasting covenant,
11saying, #Gen. 13:15; 15:18 “To you I will give the land of Canaan
as #Ps. 78:55your portion for an inheritance.”
12When they were #Gen. 34:30; Deut. 7:7; 26:5 few in number,
of little account, and #Heb. 11:9sojourners in it,
13wandering from nation to nation,
from one kingdom to another people,
14he #[Gen. 35:5] allowed no one to oppress them;
he #Gen. 12:17; 20:3rebuked kings on their account,
15saying, #Gen. 20:6, 7; [Gen. 26:11]“Touch not my anointed ones,
do my prophets no harm!”
16When he #Gen. 41:54; [2 Kgs. 8:1; Hag. 1:11] summoned a famine on the land
and #Lev. 26:26; Isa. 3:1; Ezek. 4:16; [Ps. 104:15]broke all supply#105:16 Hebrew staff of bread,
17he had #Gen. 45:5; 50:20 sent a man ahead of them,
Joseph, who was #Gen. 37:28, 36; Acts 7:9sold as a slave.
18His #[Gen. 39:20]feet were hurt with fetters;
his neck was put in a collar of iron;
19until #Gen. 40:20, 21; 41:53, 54 what he had said came to pass,
the word of the Lord #[Judg. 7:4]tested him.
20 #
Gen. 41:14 The king sent and #Ps. 146:7released him;
the ruler of the peoples set him free;
21he #Gen. 41:40made him lord of his house
and ruler of all his possessions,
22to bind#105:22 Septuagint, Syriac, Jerome instruct his princes at his pleasure
and to teach his elders wisdom.
23Then #Gen. 46:6; Acts 7:15 Israel came to Egypt;
Jacob #Acts 13:17 sojourned in #Ps. 106:22; [Ps. 78:51]the land of Ham.
24And the Lord #Ex. 1:7; Deut. 26:5made his people very fruitful
and made them stronger than their foes.
25He #[Ex. 9:12; Rom. 11:8]; See Ex. 1:8-14 turned their hearts to hate his people,
to #Ex. 1:10; Acts 7:19deal craftily with his servants.
26He #Ex. 3:10; 4:12 sent Moses, his servant,
and Aaron, #Num. 16:5; 17:5whom he had chosen.
27 # For ver. 27-36, see Ps. 78:43-51 They performed his signs among them
and miracles in #[See ver. 23 above]the land of Ham.
28He #Ex. 10:21-23 sent darkness, and made the land dark;
they #Ps. 99:7did not rebel#105:28 Septuagint, Syriac omit not against his words.
29He turned their waters into blood
and #Ex. 7:21caused their fish to die.
30Their land swarmed with frogs,
even in #Ex. 8:3the chambers of their kings.
31He spoke, and there came #Ex. 8:21 swarms of flies,
#
Ex. 8:16
and gnats throughout their country.
32He gave them hail for rain,
and fiery #Ex. 9:23lightning bolts through their land.
33He struck down their vines and fig trees,
and #Ex. 9:25shattered the trees of their country.
34He spoke, and the #See Ex. 10:12-15locusts came,
young locusts without number,
35which devoured all the vegetation in their land
and ate up the fruit of their ground.
36He #See Ps. 78:51struck down all the firstborn in their land,
# See Ps. 78:51 the firstfruits of all their strength.
37Then he brought out Israel with #Ex. 12:35, 36silver and gold,
and there was none among his tribes who stumbled.
38 #
Ex. 12:23 Egypt was glad when they departed,
for #Ex. 15:16dread of them had fallen upon it.
39He #[Job 36:20; Isa. 4:5]; See Ex. 13:21spread a cloud for a covering,
and fire to give light by night.
40 #
Ps. 78:18, 27 They asked, and he #Ex. 16:13 brought quail,
and gave them #Ps. 78:24, 25; [John 6:31]bread from heaven in abundance.
41He opened the rock, and #See Ps. 78:15 water gushed out;
it flowed through #See Ps. 63:1the desert like a river.
42For he #ver. 8, 9; Ex. 2:24 remembered his holy promise,
and #[Gen. 15:14]; See ver. 6Abraham, his servant.
43So he brought his people out with joy,
his #[See ver. 42 above] chosen ones with #[Isa. 35:10]; See Ex. 15:1-21singing.
44And he #Josh. 24:13; [Ps. 78:55]gave them the lands of the nations,
and they took possession of the fruit of the peoples’ toil,
45that they might #Deut. 4:1, 40 keep his statutes
and #Ps. 78:7 observe his laws.
