And when the Pharisees saw this, they said to his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” But when he heard it, he said, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. Go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.’ For I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.” Then the disciples of John came to him, saying, “Why do we and the Pharisees fast, but your disciples do not fast?” And Jesus said to them, “Can the wedding guests mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them? The days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast. No one puts a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment, for the patch tears away from the garment, and a worse tear is made. Neither is new wine put into old wineskins. If it is, the skins burst and the wine is spilled and the skins are destroyed. But new wine is put into fresh wineskins, and so both are preserved.”

Matthew, the former tax collector turned devoted disciple, and James the Less, the brother of Matthew, are both chosen as apostles by Jesus Christ. Matthew's story reminds us that no one is beyond the reach of Christ's transformative grace. His swift response to Jesus' call is an inspiration for us to follow Christ immediately when He calls us to a higher purpose.
This three-day devotional plan is based on the first chapter of Giving Jesus Away: Finding Joy in Sharing the Gospel, by John Hopper. Discover the life purpose that guided and shaped Jesus’ ministry. Jesus desires that we not only follow Him, but participate in His work. You will be inspired by three compelling reasons to share your faith.

In this 4-day plan, I will explain how Jesus tackled the root causes of the Babylonian culture of greed, fear, and corruption and replaced it with a Kingdom culture of caring and sharing for universal prosperity and flourishing in the marketplace. If you apply these principles to your business or job, you and all who deal with you will benefit enormously and together we'll create a better world for all.
Journey with Pastor Micah E. Davis as he uncovers some of the heralded (and unheralded) heroes of the Christmas story. The birth of Jesus was more than a neat, cozy, Nativity scene. Instead, Micah pulls back the curtain on the immense amount of faith shown by some particular individuals and the immense amount of power demonstrated by God and His angels. Invitation is at the heart of the Christmas story.
