3 # See Rom. 1:8 I thank God #See Acts 22:3; 24:14 whom I serve, as did my ancestors, #1 Tim. 3:9; See Acts 23:1 with a clear conscience, as I remember you #Rom. 1:9constantly in my prayers night and day. 4#[Acts 20:37] As I remember your tears, #Phil. 1:8; [ch. 4:9, 21]I long to see you, that I may be filled with joy. 5I am reminded of #Rom. 12:9; 1 Tim. 1:5 your sincere faith, a faith that dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and #Acts 16:1; [ch. 3:15; Ps. 86:16; 116:16]your mother Eunice and now, I am sure, dwells in you as well. 6For this reason I remind you #1 Tim. 4:14; [1 Thess. 5:19]to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands, 7for God gave us #Rom. 8:15; [John 14:27; Rev. 21:8] a spirit not of fear but #Luke 24:49; Acts 1:8of power and love and self-control.
8Therefore #See Mark 8:38 do not be ashamed of #See 1 Cor. 1:6 the testimony about our Lord, nor of #[ver. 16]; See Eph. 3:1 me his prisoner, but #ch. 2:3, 9; 4:5share in suffering for the gospel by the power of God, 9#1 Tim. 1:1; Titus 3:4 who saved us and #[Heb. 3:1]; See Rom. 8:28 called us to#1:9 Or with a holy calling, #Titus 3:5; See Rom. 3:27 not because of our works but because of #[Heb. 3:1]; See Rom. 8:28 his own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus #Titus 1:2; [Rom. 16:25]; See Eph. 1:4before the ages began,#1:9 Greek before times eternal 10and which now has #See Rom. 16:26 been manifested through #See 2 Thess. 2:8 the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus, #1 Cor. 15:26; [1 Cor. 15:54, 55; Heb. 2:14, 15] who abolished death and #[Job 33:30] brought life and #Rom. 2:7immortality to light through the gospel, 11#See 1 Tim. 2:7for which I was appointed a preacher and apostle and teacher, 12#ch. 2:9 which is why I suffer as I do. But #ver. 8 I am not ashamed, for #[Ps. 10:14; 1 Pet. 4:19] I know whom I have believed, and I am convinced that he is able to guard until #ver. 18; ch. 4:8; See 1 Cor. 3:13 that day #1 Tim. 6:20what has been entrusted to me.#1:12 Or what I have entrusted to him; Greek my deposit 13#[ch. 3:14; Titus 1:9; Rev. 3:3] Follow #[Rom. 2:20; 6:17] the pattern of #See 1 Tim. 1:10 the sound#1:13 Or healthy words #ch. 2:2 that you have heard from me, in #1 Tim. 1:14the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. 14By the Holy Spirit #See Rom. 8:9 who dwells within us, guard #[See ver. 12 above]the good deposit entrusted to you.
15You are aware that #Acts 19:10; [ch. 4:10, 11, 16]all who are in Asia turned away from me, among whom are Phygelus and Hermogenes. 16May the Lord grant mercy to #ch. 4:19 the household of Onesiphorus, for he often #Philem. 7, 20 refreshed me and was not ashamed of #[ver. 8]; See Acts 28:20my chains, 17but when he arrived in Rome #Matt. 25:36-40he searched for me earnestly and found me— 18may the Lord grant him to find mercy from the Lord on #ver. 12 that day!—and you well know all the service he #Heb. 6:10rendered at Ephesus.

2 Timothy 1
1
1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ#1:1 “Christ” means “Anointed One”. through the will of God, according to the promise of the life which is in Christ Jesus, 2to Timothy, my beloved child: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.
3 I thank God, whom I serve as my forefathers did, with a pure conscience. How unceasing is my memory of you in my petitions, night and day 4longing to see you, remembering your tears, that I may be filled with joy; 5having been reminded of the sincere faith that is in you, which lived first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, in you also.
6 For this cause, I remind you that you should stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. 7For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control. 8Therefore don’t be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner; but endure hardship for the Good News according to the power of God, 9who saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given to us in Christ Jesus before times eternal, 10but has now been revealed by the appearing of our Saviour, Christ Jesus, who abolished death, and brought life and immortality to light through the Good News. 11For this I was appointed as a preacher, an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles. 12For this cause I also suffer these things.
Yet I am not ashamed, for I know him whom I have believed, and I am persuaded that he is able to guard that which I have committed to him against that day.
13 Hold the pattern of sound words which you have heard from me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. 14That good thing which was committed to you, guard through the Holy Spirit who dwells in us.
15 This you know, that all who are in Asia turned away from me, of whom are Phygelus and Hermogenes. 16May the Lord grant mercy to the house of Onesiphorus, for he often refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain, 17but when he was in Rome, he sought me diligently and found me 18(the Lord grant to him to find the Lord’s mercy in that day); and in how many things he served at Ephesus, you know very well.
