4
1The sons of Juda: Phares, Hesron, and Charmi, and Hur, and Sobal.
2And Raia the son of Sobal begot Jahath, of whom were born Ahumai, and Laad. These are the families of Sarathi.
3And this is the posterity of Etam: Jezrahel, and Jesema, and Jedebos: and the name of their sister was Asalelphuni.
4And Phanuel the father of Gedor, and Ezar the father of Hosa: these are the sons of Hur the firstborn of Ephratha the father of Bethlehem.
5And Assur the father of Thecua had two wives, Halaa, and Naara:
6And Naara bore him Ozam, and Hepher, and Themani, and Ahasthari: these are the sons of Naara.
7And the sons of Halaa: Sereth, Isaar, and Ethnan.
8And Cos begot Anob, and Soboba, the kindred of Aharehel the son of Arum.
9And Jabes was more honourable than any of his brethren, and his mother called his name Jabes, saying: Because I bore him with sorrow.
10And Jabes called upon the God of Israel, saying: If blessing thou wilt bless me, and wilt enlarge my borders, and thy hand be with me, and thou save me from being oppressed by evil. And God granted him the things he prayed for.
11And Caleb the brother of Sua begot Mahir, who was the father of Esthon.
12And Esthon begot Bethrapha, and Phesse, and Tehinna father of the city of Naas: these are the men of Recha.
13And the sons of Cenez were Othoniel, and Saraia. And the sons of Othoniel: Hathath, and Maonathi.
14Maonathi begot Ophra, and Saraia begot Joab the father of the Valley of artificers: for artificers were there.
15And the sons of Caleb the son of Jephone were Hir, and Ela, and Naham. And the sons of Ela: Cenez.
16The sons also of Jaleleel: Ziph, and Zipha, Thiria, and Asrael.
17And the sons of Esra: Jether, and Mered, and Epher, and Jalon; and he begot Mariam, and Sammai, and Jesba the father of Esthamo.
18And his wife Judaia bore Jared the father of Gedor, and Heber the father of Socho, and Icuthiel the father of Zanoe. And these are the sons of Bethia the daughter of Pharao, whom Mered took to wife.
19And the sons of his wife Odaia the sister of Naham the father of Celia: Garmi, and Esthamo, who was of Machathi.
20The sons also of Simon: Amnon, and Rinna the son of Hanan, and Thilon. And the sons of Jesi: Zoheth, and Benzoheth.
21The sons of Sela the son of Juda: Her the father of Lecha, and Laada the father of Maresa, and the families of the house of them that wrought fine linen in the House of oath.
22And he that made the sun to stand, and the men of Lying, and Secure, and Burning, who were princes in Moab, and who returned into Lahem. Now these are things of old.
23These are the potters, and they dwelt in Plantations, and Hedges, with the king for his works, and they abode there.
24The sons of Simeon: Namuel, and Jamin, Jarib, Zara, Saul:
25Sellum his son, Mapsam his son, Masma his son.
26The sons of Masma: Hamuel his son, Zachur his son, Semei his son.
27The sons of Semei were sixteen, and six daughters: but his brethren had not many sons; and the whole kindred could not reach to the sum of the children of Juda.
28And they dwelt in Bersabee, and Molada, and Hasarsuhal,
29And in Bala, and in Asom, and in Tholad,
30And in Bathuel, and in Horma, and in Siceleg,
31And in Bethmarchaboth, and in Hasarsusim, and in Bethberai, and in Saarim. These were their cities unto the reign of David.
32Their towns also were Etam, and Aen, Remmon, and Thochen, and Asan, five cities.
33And all their villages round about these cities as far as Baal. This was their habitation, and the distribution of their dwellings.
34And Mosabab and Jemlech, and Josa, the son of Amasias,
35And Joel, and Jehu the son of Josabia the son of Saraia, the son of Asiel,
36And Elioenai, and Jacoba, and Isuhaia, and Asaia, and Adiel, and Ismiel, and Banaia,
37Ziza also the son of Sephei the son of Allon the son of Idaia the son of Semri the son of Samaia.
38These were named princes in their kindreds, and in the houses of their families were multiplied exceedingly.
39And they went forth to enter into Gador as far as to the east side of the valley, to seek pastures for their flocks.
40And they found fat pastures, and very good, and a country spacious, and quiet, and fruitful, in which some of the race of Cham had dwelt before.
41And these whose names are written above came in the days of Ezechias king of Juda: and they beat down their tents, and slew the inhabitants that were found there, and utterly destroyed them unto this day: and they dwelt in their place, because they found there fat pastures.
42Some also of the children of Simeon, five hundred men, went into mount Seir, having for their captains Phaltias and Naaria and Raphaia and Oziel the sons of Jesi.
43And they slew the remnant of the Amalecites, who had been able to escape; and they dwelt there in their stead unto this day.

The Descendants of Judah
1The sons of Judah; Pharez, Hezron, and Carmi, and Hur, and Shobal. 2And Re-ai´ah the son of Shobal begat Jahath; and Jahath begat Ahu´mai, and Lahad. These are the families of the Zo´rathites. 3And these were of the father of Etam; Jezreel, and Ishma, and Idbash: and the name of their sister was Hazelel-po´ni: 4and Penu´el the father of Gedor, and Ezer the father of Hushah. These are the sons of Hur, the firstborn of Eph´ratah, the father of Bethlehem. 5And Ashur the father of Teko´a had two wives, Helah and Na´arah. 6And Na´arah bare him Ahu´zam, and Hepher, and Te´meni, and Ha-ahash´tari. These were the sons of Na´arah. 7And the sons of Helah were, Zereth, and Jezo´ar, and Ethnan. 8And Coz begat Anub, and Zobe´bah, and the families of Ahar´hel the son of Harum. 9And Jabez was more honorable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, Because I bare him with sorrow. 10And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested. 11And Chelub the brother of Shu´ah begat Mehir, which was the father of Eshton. 12And Eshton begat Beth–ra´pha, and Pase´ah, and Tehin´nah the father of Ir–na´hash. These are the men of Rechah. 13And the sons of Kenaz; Oth´ni-el, and Serai´ah: and the sons of Oth´ni-el; Hathath. 14And Me-o´no-thai begat Ophrah: and Serai´ah begat Jo´ab, the father of the valley of Char´ashim; for they were craftsmen. 15And the sons of Caleb the son of Jephun´neh; Iru, Elah, and Na´am: and the sons of Elah, even Kenaz. 16And the sons of Jehal´eleel; Ziph, and Ziphah, Tiri´a, and As´areel. 17And the sons of Ezra were, Jether, and Mered, and Epher, and Jalon: and she bare Miriam, and Sham´mai, and Ishbah the father of Eshtemo´a. 18And his wife Jehudi´jah bare Jered the father of Gedor, and Heber the father of Socho, and Jeku´thi-el the father of Zano´ah. And these are the sons of Bithi´ah the daughter of Pharaoh, which Mered took. 19And the sons of his wife Hodi´ah the sister of Naham, the father of Kei´lah the Garmite, and Eshtemo´a the Ma-ach´athite. 20And the sons of Shimon were, Amnon, and Rinnah, Ben–ha´nan, and Tilon. And the sons of Ishi were, Zoheth, and Ben–zo´heth. 21The sons of Shelah the son of Judah were, Er the father of Lecah, and La´adah the father of Mare´shah, and the families of the house of them that wrought fine linen, of the house of Ashbe´a, 22and Jokim, and the men of Choze´ba, and Jo´ash, and Saraph, who had the dominion in Moab, and Ja´shubi–le´hem. And these are ancient things. 23These were the potters, and those that dwelt among plants and hedges: there they dwelt with the king for his work.
The Descendants of Simeon
24The sons of Simeon were, Nem´u-el, and Jamin, Jarib, Zerah, and Sha´ul: 25Shallum his son, Mibsam his son, Mishma his son. 26And the sons of Mishma; Ham´u-el his son, Zacchur his son, Shim´e-i his son. 27And Shim´e-i had sixteen sons and six daughters; but his brethren had not many children, neither did all their family multiply, like to the children of Judah. 28#Josh 19.2-8. And they dwelt at Beer–sheba, and Mol´adah, and Ha´zar–shu´al, 29and at Bilhah, and at Ezem, and at Tolad, 30and at Bethu´el, and at Hormah, and at Ziklag, 31and at Beth–mar´caboth, and Ha´zar–su´sim, and at Beth–bir´ei, and at Sha-ara´im. These were their cities unto the reign of David. 32And their villages were, Etam, and A´in, Rimmon, and Tochen, and Ashan, five cities: 33and all their villages that were round about the same cities, unto Ba´al. These were their habitations, and their genealogy.
34And Mesho´bab, and Jamlech, and Joshah the son of Amazi´ah, 35and Joel, and Jehu the son of Josibi´ah, the son of Serai´ah, the son of A´si-el, 36and Eli-oe´nai and Ja-ako´bah, and Jeshohai´ah, and Asai´ah, and Ad´i-el, and Jesim´i-el, and Benai´ah, 37and Ziza the son of Shiphi, the son of Allon, the son of Jedai´ah, the son of Shimri, the son of Shemai´ah; 38these mentioned by their names were princes in their families: and the house of their fathers increased greatly. 39And they went to the entrance of Gedor, even unto the east side of the valley, to seek pasture for their flocks. 40And they found fat pasture and good, and the land was wide, and quiet, and peaceable; for they of Ham had dwelt there of old. 41And these written by name came in the days of Hezeki´ah king of Judah, and smote their tents, and the habitations that were found there, and destroyed them utterly unto this day, and dwelt in their rooms: because there was pasture there for their flocks. 42And some of them, even of the sons of Simeon, five hundred men, went to mount Se´ir, having for their captains Pelati´ah, and Ne-ari´ah, and Rephai´ah, and Uz´zi-el, the sons of Ishi. 43And they smote the rest of the Amal´ekites that were escaped, and dwelt there unto this day.
