The Sections Assigned for Repair
1Then Eli´ashib the high priest rose up with his brethren the priests, and they builded the sheep gate; they sanctified it, and set up the doors of it; even unto the tower of Me´ah they sanctified it, unto the tower of Han´aneel. 2And next unto him builded the men of Jericho. And next to them builded Zaccur the son of Imri.
3But the fish gate did the sons of Hassena´ah build, who also laid the beams thereof, and set up the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof. 4And next unto them repaired Mer´emoth the son of Uri´jah, the son of Koz. And next unto them repaired Meshul´lam the son of Berechi´ah, the son of Meshez´abeel. And next unto them repaired Zadok the son of Ba´ana. 5And next unto them the Teko´ites repaired; but their nobles put not their necks to the work of their Lord.
6Moreover the old gate repaired Jehoi´ada the son of Pase´ah, and Meshul´lam the son of Besodei´ah; they laid the beams thereof, and set up the doors thereof, and the locks thereof, and the bars thereof. 7And next unto them repaired Melati´ah the Gib´e-onite, and Jadon the Meron´othite, the men of Gibeon, and of Mizpah, unto the throne of the governor on this side the river. 8Next unto him repaired Uz´zi-el the son of Harhai´ah, of the goldsmiths. Next unto him also repaired Hanani´ah the son of one of the apothecaries, and they fortified Jerusalem unto the broad wall. 9And next unto them repaired Rephai´ah the son of Hur, the ruler of the half part of Jerusalem. 10And next unto them repaired Jedai´ah the son of Haru´maph, even over against his house. And next unto him repaired Hattush the son of Hashabni´ah. 11Malchi´jah the son of Harim, and Hashub the son of Pahath–mo´ab, repaired the other piece, and the tower of the furnaces. 12And next unto him repaired Shallum the son of Hallo´hesh, the ruler of the half part of Jerusalem, he and his daughters.
13The valley gate repaired Hanun, and the inhabitants of Zano´ah; they built it, and set up the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof, and a thousand cubits on the wall unto the dung gate.
14But the dung gate repaired Malchi´ah the son of Rechab, the ruler of part of Beth–hac´cerem; he built it, and set up the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof.
15But the gate of the fountain repaired Shallun the son of Col–ho´zeh, the ruler of part of Mizpah; he built it, and covered it, and set up the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof, and the wall of the pool of Silo´ah by the king's garden, and unto the stairs that go down from the city of David. 16After him repaired Nehemi´ah the son of Azbuk, the ruler of the half part of Beth–zur, unto the place over against the sepulchres of David, and to the pool that was made, and unto the house of the mighty. 17After him repaired the Levites, Rehum the son of Bani. Next unto him repaired Hashabi´ah, the ruler of the half part of Kei´lah, in his part. 18After him repaired their brethren, Ba´vai the son of Hen´adad, the ruler of the half part of Kei´lah. 19And next to him repaired Ezer the son of Jesh´u-a, the ruler of Mizpah, another piece over against the going up to the armory at the turning of the wall. 20After him Baruch the son of Zab´bai earnestly repaired the other piece, from the turning of the wall unto the door of the house of Eli´ashib the high priest. 21After him repaired Mer´emoth the son of Uri´jah the son of Koz another piece, from the door of the house of Eli´ashib even to the end of the house of Eli´ashib. 22And after him repaired the priests, the men of the plain. 23After him repaired Benjamin and Hashub over against their house. After him repaired Azari´ah the son of Ma-asei´ah the son of Anani´ah by his house. 24After him repaired Bin´nu-i the son of Hen´adad another piece, from the house of Azari´ah unto the turning of the wall, even unto the corner. 25Palal the son of U´zai, over against the turning of the wall, and the tower which lieth out from the king's high house, that was by the court of the prison. After him Pedai´ah the son of Parosh. 26Moreover the Neth´inim dwelt in Ophel, unto the place over against the water gate toward the east, and the tower that lieth out. 27After them the Teko´ites repaired another piece, over against the great tower that lieth out, even unto the wall of Ophel.
28From above the horse gate repaired the priests, every one over against his house. 29After them repaired Zadok the son of Immer over against his house. After him repaired also Shemai´ah the son of Shechani´ah, the keeper of the east gate. 30After him repaired Hanani´ah the son of Shelemi´ah, and Hanun the sixth son of Zalaph, another piece. After him repaired Meshul´lam the son of Berechi´ah over against his chamber. 31After him repaired Malchi´ah the goldsmith's son unto the place of the Neth´inim, and of the merchants, over against the gate Miphkad, and to the going up of the corner. 32And between the going up of the corner unto the sheep gate repaired the goldsmiths and the merchants.

1Eliashib the high priest and other priests with him began rebuilding at the Sheep Gate. They dedicated it and set up its doors. Then they continued building as far as the Tower of the Hundred and the Tower of Hananel and dedicated it. 2The men of Jericho built the section next to Eliashib, and Zaccur, son of Imri, built the one after.
3The Fish Gate was rebuilt by the sons of Hassenaah. They laid its beams and set up its doors, together with its bolts and bars. 4The next section was repaired by Meremoth, son of Uriah, son of Hakkoz; next to him, was Meshullam, son of Berechiah, son of Meshezabel; and next to him, Zadok, son of Baana. 5Next were the Tekoites, but their nobles refused to do manual work under a supervisor.
6The Old Gate was repaired by Joiada, son of Paseah and Meshullam, son of Besodeiah. They laid its beams and set up its doors, together with its bolts and bars. 7Next were Melatiah the Gibeonite, Jadon the Meronothite, and the men of Gibeon and Mizpah, who were under the jurisdiction of the governor of the province west of the Euphrates.
8Next was Uzziel, son of Harhaiah, one of the goldsmiths; and next to him was Hananiah, son of the perfumer. They strengthened Jerusalem as far as the Broad Wall. 9Next was Rephaiah, son of Hur, ruler of a Jerusalem half-district.#3:9. Thought to be an area outside of the city. 10Next was Jedaiah, son of Harumaph, who made repairs opposite his house. Next was Hattush, son of Hashabneiah. 11Malchijah, son of Harim, and Hasshub, son of Pahath-moab, worked on another section, as well as the Tower of the Ovens. 12Next was Shallum, son of Hallohesh, ruler of a Jerusalem half-district, helped by his daughters.
13The Valley Gate was repaired by Hanun and the people who lived in Zanoah. They rebuilt it, set up its doors, together with its bolts and bars, and repaired a thousand cubits of the wall up to the Refuse Gate. 14The Refuse Gate was repaired by Malchijah, son of Rechab, ruler of the district of Beth-haccherem, He rebuilt it and set up its doors, together with its bolts and bars.
15The Fountain Gate was repaired by Shallun, son of Col-hozeh, ruler of the Mizpah district. He rebuilt it, put a roof on it, set up its doors, together with its bolts and bars. He rebuilt the wall of the Pool of Shelah by the king's garden, as far as the steps that go down from the City of David. 16Past him, Nehemiah, son of Azbuk, ruler of a Beth-zur half-district, repaired up to a point opposite David's cemetery, as far as the man-made pool and the House of the Mighty Warriors.
17Next were the Levites under Rehum son of Bani, and next was Hashabiah, ruler of Keilah half-district, who made repairs on behalf of his district. 18Next to them were their neighbors under Binnui,#3:18. “Binnui”: the text says “Bannai.” son of Henadad, ruler of the other Keilah half-district. 19Next was Ezer, son of Jeshua, ruler of Mizpah, who repaired another section opposite Armory Hill, where the wall turns. 20Next was Baruch, son of Zabbai, who worked hard repairing another section, from where the wall turns to the entrance of Eliashib the high priest's house. 21Next was Meremoth, son of Uriah, son of Hakkoz, who repaired another section, from the entrance of Eliashib the high priest's house to its end.
22Next were repairs made by the priests from the surrounding area. 23Past them were Benjamin and Hasshub who made repairs in front of their house, and next to them, Azariah, son of Maaseiah, son of Ananiah, made repairs beside his house. 24Next was Binnui, son of Henadad, who repaired another section, from Azariah's house to where the wall turns and the corner. 25Palal, son of Uzai, worked opposite where the wall turns and the tower that extends from the upper palace, near the court of the guard. Next were Pedaiah, son of Parosh 26and the Temple servants that lived on the hill of Ophel who made repairs opposite the Water Gate toward the east and the tower that extends. 27Next were the Tekoites who repaired to another section opposite the great tower that extends to the wall of Ophel.
28Above the Horse Gate, each of the priests made repairs opposite his own house. 29Next was Zadok, son of Immer, who worked opposite his house, and next was Shemaiah, son of Shecaniah, the guard at the East Gate. 30Next were Hananiah, son of Shelemiah, as well as Hanun, the sixth son of Zalaph, who repaired. Next was Meshullam, son of Berechiah, who made repairs opposite where he lived. 31Next was Malchijah, one of the goldsmiths, made repairs as far as the house of the Temple servants and the merchants, opposite the Inspection Gate, and as far as the room above the corner. 32The goldsmiths and merchants made repairs between the room above the corner and the Sheep Gate.
