Job 42

Job's Confession and Acceptance
1Then Job answered the Lord, and said,
2I know that thou canst do every thing,
and that no thought can be withholden from thee.

Job 38.2. Who is he that hideth counsel without knowledge?
Therefore have I uttered that I understood not;
things too wonderful for me, which I knew not.
4 #
Job 38.3. Hear, I beseech thee, and I will speak:
I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me.
5I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear;
but now mine eye seeth thee:
6wherefore I abhor myself,
and repent in dust and ashes.
7And it was so, that after the Lord had spoken these words unto Job, the Lord said to El´iphaz the Te´manite, My wrath is kindled against thee, and against thy two friends: for ye have not spoken of me the thing that is right, as my servant Job hath. 8Therefore take unto you now seven bullocks and seven rams, and go to my servant Job, and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering; and my servant Job shall pray for you: for him will I accept: lest I deal with you after your folly, in that ye have not spoken of me the thing which is right, like my servant Job. 9So El´iphaz the Te´manite and Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Na´amathite went, and did according as the Lord commanded them: the Lord also accepted Job.
The Restoration of Job's Prosperity

Job 1.1-3. And the Lord turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before. 11Then came there unto him all his brethren, and all his sisters, and all they that had been of his acquaintance before, and did eat bread with him in his house: and they bemoaned him, and comforted him over all the evil that the Lord had brought upon him: every man also gave him a piece of money, and every one an earring of gold. 12So the Lord blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning: for he had fourteen thousand sheep, and six thousand camels, and a thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand she asses. 13He had also seven sons and three daughters. 14And he called the name of the first, Jemi´ma; and the name of the second, Kezi´a; and the name of the third, Keren–hap´puch. 15And in all the land were no women found so fair as the daughters of Job: and their father gave them inheritance among their brethren. 16After this lived Job a hundred and forty years, and saw his sons, and his sons' sons, even four generations. 17So Job died, being old and full of days.

Job 42
42
1Then Job answered the LORD.
Job
2I know, LORD, that you are all-powerful;
that you can do everything you want.

Job 38.2
You ask how I dare question your wisdom
when I am so very ignorant.
I talked about things I did not understand,
about marvels too great for me to know.
4 #
Job 38.3
You told me to listen while you spoke
and to try to answer your questions.
5In the past I knew only what others had told me,
but now I have seen you with my own eyes.
6So I am ashamed of all I have said
and repent in dust and ashes.
Conclusion
7After the LORD had finished speaking to Job, he said to Eliphaz, “I am angry with you and your two friends, because you did not speak the truth about me, as my servant Job did. 8Now take seven bulls and seven rams to Job and offer them as a sacrifice for yourselves. Job will pray for you, and I will answer his prayer and not disgrace you as you deserve. You did not speak the truth about me as he did.”
9Eliphaz, Bildad, and Zophar did what the LORD had told them to do, and the LORD answered Job's prayer.

Job 1.1–3
Then, after Job had prayed for his three friends, the LORD made him prosperous again and gave him twice as much as he had had before. 11All Job's brothers and sisters and former friends came to visit him and feasted with him in his house. They expressed their sympathy and comforted him for all the troubles the LORD had brought on him. Each of them gave him some money and a gold ring.
12The LORD blessed the last part of Job's life even more than he had blessed the first. Job owned 14,000 sheep, 6,000 camels, 2,000 head of cattle, and 1,000 donkeys. 13He was the father of seven sons and three daughters. 14He called the eldest daughter Jemimah, the second Keziah, and the youngest Keren Happuch.#42.14 In Hebrew the names of Job's daughters suggest beauty both by their sound and by their meaning. Jemimah means “dove”; Keziah means “cassia”, a variety of cinnamon used as a perfume; and Keren Happuch means a small box used for eye make-up. 15There were no other women in the whole world as beautiful as Job's daughters. Their father gave them a share of the inheritance along with their brothers.
16Job lived 140 years after this, long enough to see his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 17And then he died at a very great age.
