PSALM 94
1O ·God#GodHebrew: El of vengeances, Jehovah, ·God#GodHebrew: El of vengeances, shine forth; 2Lift up thyself, thou judge of the earth, render the reward to the proud. 3How long shall the wicked, O Jehovah, how long shall the wicked triumph? 4How long shall they utter and speak insolence — all the workers of iniquity boast themselves? 5They crush thy people, O Jehovah, and afflict thine inheritance; 6They slay the widow and the stranger, and murder the fatherless, 7And say, Jah will not see, neither will the God#GodHebrew: Elohim of Jacob regard it. 8Understand, ye brutish among the people; and ye fools, when will ye be wise? 9He that planted the ear, shall he not hear? He that formed the eye, shall he not see? 10He that instructeth the nations, shall not he correct — he that teacheth man knowledge? 11Jehovah knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vanity.
12Blessed is the man whom thou chastenest, O Jah, and whom thou teachest out of thy law; 13That thou mayest give him rest from the days of evil, until the pit be digged for the wicked. 14For Jehovah will not cast off his people, neither will he forsake his inheritance; 15For judgment shall return unto righteousness, and all the upright in heart shall follow it. 16Who will rise up for me against the evil-doers? who will stand for me against the workers of iniquity? 17If Jehovah had not been my help, my soul had almost dwelt in silence. 18When I said, My foot slippeth, thy loving-kindness, O Jehovah, held me up. 19In the multitude of my anxious thoughts within me thy comforts have delighted my soul. 20Shall the throne of wickedness be united to thee, which frameth mischief into a law? 21They band together against the soul of the righteous, and condemn innocent blood. 22But Jehovah will be my high tower; and my God#GodHebrew: Elohim the rock of my refuge. 23And he will bring upon them their iniquity, and will cut them off in their own evil: Jehovah our God#GodHebrew: Elohim will cut them off.

Psalm 94
1 LORD, avenging God—
avenging God, show yourself!
2Rise up, judge of the earth!
Pay back the arrogant exactly what they deserve!
3How long will the wicked—oh, LORD!—
how long will the wicked win?
4They spew arrogant words;
all the evildoers are bragging.
5They crush your own people, LORD!
They abuse your very own possession.
6They kill widows and immigrants;
they murder orphans,
7saying all the while,
“The LORD can’t see it;
Jacob’s God doesn’t know
what’s going on!”
8You ignorant people better learn quickly.
You fools—when will you get some sense?
9The one who made the ear,
can’t he hear?
The one who formed the eye,
can’t he see?
10The one who disciplines nations,
can’t he punish?
The one who teaches humans,
doesn’t he know?#94.10 Correction; MT the one who teaches humans knowledge
11The LORD does indeed know human thoughts,
knows that they are nothing but a puff of air.
12The people you discipline, LORD, are truly happy—
the ones you teach from your Instruction—
13giving them relief from troubling times
until a pit is dug for the wicked.
14The LORD will not reject his people;
he will not abandon his very own possession.
15No, but justice will once again meet up with righteousness,
and all whose heart is right will follow after.
16Who will stand up for me against the wicked?
Who will help me against evildoers?
17If the LORD hadn’t helped me,
I#94.17 Or soul; also in 94:19, 21 would live instantly in total silence.
18Whenever I feel my foot slipping,
your faithful love steadies me, LORD.
19When my anxieties multiply,
your comforting calms me down.
20Can a wicked ruler be your ally;
one who wreaks havoc by means of the law?
21The wicked gang up against the lives of the righteous.
They condemn innocent blood.
22But the LORD is my fortress;
my God is my rock of refuge.
23He will repay them for their wickedness,
completely destroy them because of their evil.
Yes, the LORD our God will completely destroy them.
