PSALM 102
A Prayer of the afflicted, when he is overwhelmed, and poureth out his complaint before Jehovah.
1Jehovah, hear my prayer, and let my cry come unto thee. 2Hide not thy face from me: in the day of my trouble, incline thine ear unto me; in the day I call, answer me speedily. 3For my days are consumed like smoke, and my bones are burned as a firebrand. 4My heart is smitten and withered like grass; yea, I have forgotten to eat my bread. 5By reason of the voice of my groaning, my bones cleave to my flesh. 6I am become like the pelican of the wilderness, I am as an owl in desolate places; 7I watch, and am like a sparrow alone upon the housetop. 8Mine enemies reproach me all the day; they that are mad against me swear by me. 9For I have eaten ashes like bread, and mingled my drink with weeping, 10Because of thine indignation and thy wrath; for thou hast lifted me up, and cast me down. 11My days are like a lengthened-out shadow, and I, I am withered like grass.
12But thou, Jehovah, abidest for ever, and thy memorial from generation to generation. 13Thou wilt rise up, thou wilt have mercy upon Zion: for it is the time to be gracious to her, for the set time is come. 14For thy servants take pleasure in her stones, and favour her dust. 15And the nations shall fear the name of Jehovah, and all the kings of the earth thy glory. 16When Jehovah shall build up Zion, he will appear in his glory. 17He will regard the prayer of the destitute one, and not despise their prayer. 18This shall be written for the generation to come; and a people that shall be created shall praise Jah: 19For he hath looked down from the height of his sanctuary; from the heavens hath Jehovah beheld the earth, 20To hear the groaning of the prisoner, to loose those that are appointed to die; 21That the name of Jehovah may be declared in Zion, and his praise in Jerusalem, 22When the peoples shall be gathered together, and the kingdoms, to serve Jehovah.
23He weakened my strength in the way, he shortened my days. 24I said, My ·God#GodHebrew: El take me not away in the midst of my days! ...Thy years are from generation to generation. 25Of old hast thou founded the earth, and the heavens are the work of thy hands: 26They shall perish, but thou continuest; and all of them shall grow old as a garment: as a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed. 27But thou art the Same, and thy years shall have no end. 28The children of thy servants shall abide, and their seed shall be established before thee.

Do Not Hide Your Face from Me
A Prayer of one afflicted, when he is #Ps. 61:2 faint and #Ps. 142:2pours out his complaint before the Lord.

Ps. 39:12 Hear my prayer, O Lord;
let my cry #Ps. 18:6; Ex. 2:23; 1 Sam. 9:16come to you!
2 # See Ps. 27:9 Do not hide your face from me
in #See Ps. 18:6 the day of my distress!
# See Ps. 31:2 Incline your ear to me;
# See Ps. 69:17 answer me speedily #Ps. 56:9in the day when I call!
3For my days #[James 4:14]; See Ps. 37:20 pass away like smoke,
and my #Job 30:30; Lam. 1:13; See Ps. 31:10bones burn like a furnace.
4My heart is #Ps. 121:6 struck down like grass and #Ps. 37:2; Isa. 40:7; [James 1:10, 11] has withered;
I #[1 Sam. 1:7; 2 Sam. 12:17; 1 Kgs. 21:4; Job 33:20]forget to eat my bread.
5Because of my loud groaning
my #See Job 19:20bones cling to my flesh.
6I am like #Isa. 34:11; Zeph. 2:14; [Job 30:29]a desert owl of the wilderness,
like an owl#102:6 The precise identity of these birds is uncertain of the waste places;
7I #Ps. 77:4lie awake;
I am like a lonely sparrow on the housetop.
8All the day my enemies taunt me;

9For I eat ashes like bread
and #See Ps. 42:3mingle tears with my drink,
10because of your indignation and anger;
for you have #Ezek. 3:12, 14 taken me up and #Ps. 51:11thrown me down.
11My days are like #Ps. 109:23; 144:4; Job 8:9 an evening shadow;
I #[See ver. 4 above]wither away like grass.
12But you, O Lord, are #ver. 26; See Ps. 9:7 enthroned forever;

15Nations will #1 Kgs. 8:43; Isa. 59:19 fear the name of the Lord,
and all #Ps. 138:4; Isa. 60:3the kings of the earth will fear your glory.

so that #See Ps. 22:31; [Isa. 43:21]a people yet to be created may praise the Lord:

and in Jerusalem his praise,
22when #[Isa. 45:14]; See Ps. 22:27peoples gather together,
and kingdoms, to worship the Lord.
23He has broken my strength in midcourse;
he #Ps. 89:45has shortened my days.
