Numbers 12
12
1And Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had taken; for he had taken a Cushite as wife. 2And they said, Has Jehovah indeed spoken only to Moses? has he not spoken also to us? And Jehovah heard it. 3But the man Moses was very meek, above all men that were upon the face of the earth.
4Then Jehovah spoke suddenly to Moses, and to Aaron, and to Miriam, Come out ye three unto the tent of meeting. And they went out, they three. 5And Jehovah came down in the pillar of the cloud, and stood at the entrance of the tent, and called Aaron and Miriam; and they both came forth. 6And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I Jehovah will make myself known to him in a vision, I will speak to him in a dream. 7Not so my servant Moses: he is faithful in all my house. 8Mouth to mouth do I speak to him openly, and not in riddles; and the form of Jehovah doth he behold. Why then were ye not afraid to speak against my servant, against Moses? 9And the anger of Jehovah was kindled against them, and he went away;
10and the cloud departed from off the tent. And behold, Miriam was leprous as snow; and Aaron turned toward Miriam, and behold, she was leprous. 11Then Aaron said to Moses, Alas, my lord, I beseech thee, lay not this sin upon us, wherein we have been foolish, and have sinned! 12Let her not be as one stillborn, half of whose flesh is consumed when he comes out of his mother's womb. 13And Moses cried to Jehovah, saying, O ·God#GodHebrew: El heal her, I beseech thee! 14And Jehovah said to Moses, But had her father anyways spat in her face, should she not be shamed seven days? She shall be shut outside the camp seven days, and afterwards she shall be received in again. 15And Miriam was shut outside the camp seven days; and the people did not journey till Miriam was received in again. 16And afterwards the people journeyed from Hazeroth, and encamped in the wilderness of Paran.

Numbers 12

Miriam is Punished
1Moses had married a Cushite#12.1 Cushite (compare Hab 3.7); or Midianite; or Ethiopian. woman, and Miriam and Aaron criticized him for it. 2They said, “Has the LORD spoken only through#12.2 through; or to. Moses? Hasn't he also spoken through#12.2 through; or to. us?” The LORD heard what they said. 3(Moses was a humble man, more humble than anyone else on earth.)
4Suddenly the LORD said to Moses, Aaron, and Miriam, “I want the three of you to come out to the Tent of my presence.” They went, 5and the LORD came down in a pillar of cloud, stood at the entrance of the Tent, and called out, “Aaron! Miriam!” The two of them stepped forward, 6and the LORD said, “Now hear what I have to say! When there are prophets among you,#12.6 Some ancient translations When… you; Hebrew unclear. I reveal myself to them in visions and speak to them in dreams. 7#Heb 3.2It is different when I speak with my servant Moses; I have put him in charge of all my people Israel.#12.7 I have put… Israel; or he can be trusted with all my affairs. 8So I speak to him face to face, clearly and not in riddles; he has even seen my form! How dare you speak against my servant Moses?”
9The LORD was angry with them; and so as he departed 10and the cloud left the Tent, Miriam's skin was suddenly covered with a dreaded disease and turned as white as snow. When Aaron looked at her and saw that she was covered with the disease, 11he said to Moses, “Please, sir, do not make us suffer this punishment for our foolish sin. 12Don't let her become like something born dead with half its flesh eaten away.”
13So Moses cried out to the LORD, “O God, heal her!”

Num 5.2–3
The LORD answered, “If her father had spat in her face, she would have to bear her disgrace for seven days. So let her be shut out of the camp for a week, and after that she can be brought back in.” 15Miriam was shut out of the camp for seven days, and the people did not move on until she was brought back in. 16Then they left Hazeroth and set up camp in the wilderness of Paran.
