Leviticus 27
27
1And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying, 2Speak unto the children of Israel and say unto them, When any one devoteth anything by a vow, the persons shall be for Jehovah according to thy valuation. 3And thy valuation shall be of the male from twenty years old even unto sixty years old: thy valuation shall be fifty shekels of silver, after the shekel of the sanctuary; 4and if it be of a female, thy valuation shall be thirty shekels. 5And if it be from five years old even unto twenty years old, thy valuation of the male shall be twenty shekels, and for the female ten shekels. 6And if it be from a month old even unto five years old, thy valuation of the male shall be five shekels of silver; and for the female thy valuation shall be three shekels of silver. 7And if it be from sixty years old and above, if it be a male, thy valuation shall be fifteen shekels; and for the female ten shekels. 8And if he be poorer than thy valuation, he shall present himself before the priest, and the priest shall value him: according to his means that vowed shall the priest value him. 9And if it be a beast whereof men bring an offering unto Jehovah, all that they give of such unto Jehovah shall be holy. 10They shall not alter it nor change it, a good for a bad, or a bad for a good; and if he at all change beast for beast, then it and the exchange thereof shall be holy. 11And if it be any unclean beast, of which they do not bring an offering unto Jehovah, then he shall present the beast before the priest; 12and the priest shall value it, judging between good and bad: according to the valuation of the priest, so shall it be. 13And if they will in any wise redeem it, then they shall add a fifth part thereof unto thy valuation.
14And when any one halloweth his house, that it may be holy to Jehovah, the priest shall value it, judging between good and bad: as the priest shall value it, so shall it stand. 15And if he that halloweth it will redeem his house, he shall add the fifth of the money of thy valuation unto it, and it shall be his. 16And if a man hallow to Jehovah part of a field of his possession, thy valuation shall be according to what may be sown in it: the homer of barley seed at fifty shekels of silver. 17If he hallow his field from the year of jubilee, according to thy valuation shall it stand; 18but if he hallow his field after the jubilee, then the priest shall reckon unto him the money according to the years that remain, until the year of the jubilee; and there shall be a reduction from thy valuation. 19And if he that hallowed the field will in any wise redeem it, he shall add the fifth of the money of thy valuation unto it, and it shall be assured to him; 20but if he do not redeem the field, or if he sell the field to another man, it cannot be redeemed any more; 21and the field, when it goeth out in the jubilee, shall be holy to Jehovah, as a field devoted; the possession thereof shall be the priest's. 22And if he hallow to Jehovah a field that he hath bought, which is not of the fields of his possession, 23the priest shall reckon unto him the amount of thy valuation, unto the year of the jubilee; and he shall give thy valuation on that day, as holy to Jehovah. 24In the year of the jubilee the field shall return unto him of whom it was bought — to him to whom the land belonged. 25And all thy valuation shall be according to the shekel of the sanctuary: twenty gerahs shall be the shekel.
26Only the firstling which is offered as firstling to Jehovah among the cattle, that shall no man hallow, whether it be ox or sheep; it is Jehovah's. 27But if it be of an unclean beast, then he shall ransom it according to thy valuation, and shall add a fifth of it thereto; and if it be not redeemed, it shall be sold according to thy valuation. 28Notwithstanding, no devoted thing that a man hath devoted to Jehovah of all that he hath, of man or beast, or of the field of his possession, shall be sold or redeemed: every devoted thing is most holy to Jehovah. 29Nothing devoted, which shall be devoted from among men, shall be ransomed: it shall certainly be put to death. 30And as to every tithe of the land, of the seed of the land, and of the fruit of the tree, it is Jehovah's: it is holy to Jehovah. 31And if any one will at all redeem of his tithes, he shall add thereto the fifth thereof. 32And as to every tithe of the herd, or of the flock, of whatever passeth under the rod, the tenth shall be holy to Jehovah. 33He shall not search whether it be good or bad, neither shall he change it; and if he change it at all, then both it and the exchange thereof shall be holy; it shall not be redeemed. 34These are the commandments which Jehovah commanded Moses for the children of Israel upon mount Sinai.

1The Lord spoke to Moses: 2“Speak to the Israelites and tell them: When someone makes a special vow#Lv 27:8 to the Lord that involves the assessment of people, 3if the assessment concerns a male from twenty to sixty years old, your assessment is fifty silver shekels#2Kg 15:20 measured by the standard sanctuary shekel.#Ex 30:13; Lv 5:15; 27:25; Nm 3:47 4If the person is a female, your assessment is thirty shekels.#Ex 21:32 5If the person is from five to twenty years old, your assessment for a male is twenty shekels#Gn 37:28 and for a female ten shekels. 6If the person is from one month to five years old, your assessment for a male is five silver shekels,#Nm 3:46–47; 18:15–16 and for a female your assessment is three shekels of silver. 7If the person is sixty years or more, your assessment is fifteen shekels for a male and ten shekels for a female. 8But if one is too poor to pay the assessment, he is to present the person before the priest and the priest will set a value for him. The priest will set a value for him according to what the one making the vow can afford.
9“If the vow involves one of the animals that may be brought as an offering to the Lord, any of these he gives to the Lord will be holy. 10He may not replace it or make a substitution for it, either good for bad, or bad for good.#Mal 1:8 But if he does substitute one animal for another, both that animal and its substitute will be holy.
11“If the vow involves any of the unclean animals that may not be brought as an offering to the Lord, the animal must be presented before the priest. 12The priest will set its value, whether high or low; the price will be set as the priest makes the assessment for you. 13If the one who brought it decides to redeem it, he must add a fifth to the#27:13 Lit your, also in vv. 15,19,23 assessed value.#Gn 47:24; Lv 5:16; 6:5
14“When a man consecrates his house as holy to the Lord, the priest will assess its value, whether high or low. The price will stand just as the priest assesses it. 15But if the one who consecrated his house redeems it, he must add a fifth to the assessed value, and it will be his.#Lv 25:29–31
16“If a man consecrates to the Lord any part of a field that he possesses, your assessment of value will be proportional to the seed needed to sow it, at the rate of fifty silver shekels for every six bushels#27:16 Lit for a homer of barley seed.#27:16 Or grain 17If he consecrates his field during the Year of Jubilee,#Lv 25:10 the price will stand according to your assessment. 18But if he consecrates his field after the Jubilee, the priest will calculate the price for him in proportion to the years left until the next Year of Jubilee, so that your assessment will be reduced. 19If the one who consecrated the field decides to redeem it, he must add a fifth to the assessed value, and the field will transfer back to him. 20But if he does not redeem the field or if he has sold it to another man, it is no longer redeemable. 21When the field is released in the Jubilee, it will be holy to the Lord like a field permanently set apart; it becomes the priest’s property.
22“If a person consecrates to the Lord a field he has purchased that is not part of his inherited landholding, 23then the priest will calculate for him the amount of the assessment up to the Year of Jubilee, and the person will pay the assessed value on that day as a holy offering to the Lord. 24In the Year of Jubilee the field will return to the one he bought it from,#Lv 25:28 the original owner. 25All your assessed values will be measured by the standard sanctuary shekel,#27:25 A shekel is about two-fifths of an ounce of silver twenty gerahs to the shekel.#Ex 30:13; Nm 18:16; Ezk 45:12
26“But no one can consecrate a firstborn of the livestock, whether an animal from the herd or flock, to the Lord, because a firstborn already belongs to the Lord.#Ex 13:2,15; 34:19; Nm 18:15 27If it is one of the unclean livestock, it can be ransomed according to your assessment by adding a fifth of its value to it. If it is not redeemed, it can be sold according to your assessment.#Ex 13:13; 34:20
28“Nothing that a man permanently sets apart to the Lord from all he owns, whether a person, an animal, or his inherited landholding, can be sold or redeemed; everything set apart is especially holy to the Lord. 29No person who has been set apart for destruction is to be ransomed; he must be put to death.#Nm 21:1–3; 31:7,13–17; Jos 6:17; 1Sm 15:17–33
30“Every tenth of the land’s produce, grain from the soil or fruit from the trees, belongs to the Lord;#Nm 18:21–32; Dt 14:22–29; Neh 10:37–39 it is holy to the Lord. 31If a man decides to redeem any part of this tenth, he must add a fifth to its value. 32Every tenth animal from the herd or flock, which passes under the shepherd’s rod,#Gn 28:22; 2Ch 31:6; Jr 33:13 will be holy to the Lord. 33He is not to inspect whether it is good or bad, and he is not to make a substitution for it. But if he does make a substitution, both the animal and its substitute will be holy;#Lv 12:4; 25:12 they cannot be redeemed.”#Lv 27:10
