Jeremiah 27
27
1In the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, the king of Judah, came this word to Jeremiah from Jehovah, saying, 2Thus hath Jehovah said unto me: Make thee bonds and yokes, and put them upon thy neck; 3and send them to the king of Edom, and to the king of Moab, and to the king of the children of Ammon, and to the king of Tyre, and to the king of Zidon, by the hand of the messengers that come to Jerusalem unto Zedekiah king of Judah. 4And give them a charge unto their masters, saying, Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God#GodHebrew: Elohim of Israel: Thus shall ye say unto your masters: 5I have made the earth, man and beast that are upon the face of the earth, by my great power and by my outstretched arm; and I give them unto whom it seemeth right in mine eyes. 6And now have I given all these lands into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, my servant; and the beasts of the field also have I given him to serve him. 7And all the nations shall serve him, and his son, and his son's son, until the time of his land also come, when many nations and great kings shall reduce him to servitude. 8And it shall come to pass, that the nation and kingdom which will not serve the same Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and that will not put their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, that nation will I visit, saith Jehovah, with the sword, and with the famine, and with the pestilence, until I have consumed them by his hand. 9And ye, hearken not to your prophets, nor to your diviners, nor to your dreamers, nor to your soothsayers, nor to your sorcerers, who speak unto you saying: Ye shall not serve the king of Babylon. 10For they prophesy falsehood unto you, to remove you far from your land, and that I should drive you out, and ye should perish. 11But the nation that bringeth its neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon and serveth him, will I let remain still in its own land, saith Jehovah; and they shall till it, and dwell therein.
12And I spoke to Zedekiah king of Judah according to all these words, saying, bring your necks under the yoke of the king of Babylon, and serve him and his people, and live. 13Why will ye die, thou and thy people, by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence, as Jehovah hath spoken concerning the nation that will not serve the king of Babylon? 14And hearken not unto the words of the prophets that speak unto you, saying, Ye shall not serve the king of Babylon; for they prophesy falsehood unto you. 15For I have not sent them, saith Jehovah, yet they prophesy falsely in my name; in order that I should drive you out, and that ye should perish, ye, and the prophets who prophesy unto you. 16And I spoke to the priests and to all this people, saying, Thus saith Jehovah: Hearken not to the words of your prophets that prophesy unto you, saying, Behold, the vessels of Jehovah's house shall now shortly be brought again from Babylon; for they prophesy falsehood unto you. 17Hearken not unto them; serve the king of Babylon, and live: wherefore should this city become a waste? 18But if they be prophets, and if the word of Jehovah be with them, let them now make intercession to Jehovah of hosts, that the vessels which are left in the house of Jehovah, and in the house of the king of Judah, and at Jerusalem, go not to Babylon. 19For thus saith Jehovah of hosts concerning the pillars, and concerning the sea, and concerning the bases, and concerning the rest of the vessels that are left in this city, 20which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took not, when he carried away captive Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim, the king of Judah, from Jerusalem to Babylon, along with all the nobles of Judah and Jerusalem; 21yea, thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God#GodHebrew: Elohim of Israel, concerning the vessels that are left in the house of Jehovah, and in the house of the king of Judah, and in Jerusalem: 22They shall be carried to Babylon, and there shall they be until the day of my visiting them, saith Jehovah; then I will bring them up, and restore them to this place.

Judah to Serve Nebuchadnezzar
1In the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah the son of Josiah, king of Judah, this word came to Jeremiah from the Lord: 2Thus says the Lord to me: Make bonds and yokes and put them on your neck, 3and send them to the king of Edom, and to the king of Moab, and to the king of the Ammonites, and to the king of Tyre, and to the king of Sidon, by the hand of the messengers who come to Jerusalem to Zedekiah king of Judah. 4And command them to go to their masters, saying: Thus says the Lord of Hosts, the God of Israel: Thus you shall say to your masters: 5I have made the earth, the men, and the beasts which are on the ground by My great power and by My outstretched arm, and have given it to whom it seemed good to Me. # Ps 115:15–16; Isa 45:12 6Now I have given all these lands into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, My servant. # Jer 25:9; Eze 29:18–20 And also I have given to him the beasts of the field to serve him. # Jer 28:14 7All nations shall serve him and his son and his son’s son until the time of his own land comes; and then many nations and great kings will make him their servant.
8It shall come to pass that I will punish the nation and kingdom which will not serve Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, and that will not put their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, says the Lord. I will punish that nation with the sword, and with famine, and with pestilence, until I have consumed them by his hand. # Jer 24:10 9Therefore do not listen to your prophets, or to your diviners, or to your dreamers, or to your enchanters, or to your sorcerers who speak to you, # Isa 8:19; Jer 14:14 saying, “You shall not serve the king of Babylon.” 10For they prophesy a lie to you in order to remove you far from your land. And I will drive you out, # Jer 32:31 and you shall perish. 11But the nations that bring their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, and serve him, # Jer 21:9; 27:2 those I will let remain still in their own land, says the Lord, and they shall till it and dwell in it.
12I spoke also to Zedekiah king of Judah according to all these words, saying: Bring your necks under the yoke of the king of Babylon and serve him and his people, and live. # Jer 38:17 13Why will you die, # Eze 18:31 you and your people, by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence, as the Lord has spoken against the nation that will not serve the king of Babylon? # Jer 27:8 14Therefore do not listen to the words of the prophets who speak to you, saying, “You will not serve the king of Babylon,” because they prophesy a lie to you. # Jer 14:14; 23:21 15For I have not sent them, says the Lord, yet they prophesy a lie in My name, # Jer 27:10 so that I might drive you out and that you might perish, you and the prophets that prophesy to you.
16I also spoke to the priests and to all this people: Thus says the Lord: Do not listen to the words of your prophets that prophesy to you, saying, “Behold, the vessels of the house of the Lord will now soon be brought again from Babylon.” # 2Ki 24:13; Jer 28:3 For they prophesy a lie to you. 17Do not listen to them; serve the king of Babylon, and live. Why should this city be laid waste? 18But if they are prophets, and if the word of the Lord is with them, let them now make intercession to the Lord of Hosts, # 1Sa 7:8; 12:19 that the vessels which are left in the house of the Lord and in the house of the king of Judah and in Jerusalem not go to Babylon. 19For thus says the Lord of Hosts concerning the pillars, and concerning the sea, and concerning the bases, # 2Ki 25:13; Jer 52:17–23 and concerning the rest of the vessels that remain in this city, 20which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon did not take when he carried away captive Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim, # 2Ch 36:10; Jer 24:1 king of Judah from Jerusalem to Babylon, and all the nobles of Judah and Jerusalem. 21Indeed, thus says the Lord of Hosts, the God of Israel, concerning the vessels that remain in the house of the Lord and in the house of the king of Judah and in Jerusalem: 22They will be carried to Babylon and they will be there until the day that I visit them, says the Lord. Then I will bring them up and restore them to this place. # Ezr 7:19; Jer 29:10
