Proverbs 29
29
1He that being often reproved hardeneth his neck
Shall suddenly be broken, and that without remedy.
2When the righteous are increased, the people rejoice:
But when a wicked man beareth rule, the people sigh.
3Whoso loveth wisdom rejoiceth his father:
But he that keepeth company with harlots wasteth his substance.
4The king by judgement establisheth the land:
But he that exacteth gifts overthroweth it.
5A man that flattereth his neighbour
Spreadeth a net for his steps.
6In the transgression of an evil man there is a snare:
But the righteous doth sing and rejoice.
7The righteous taketh knowledge of the cause of the poor:
The wicked hath not understanding to know it.
8Scornful men set a city in a flame:
But wise men turn away wrath.
9If a wise man hath a controversy with a foolish man,
Whether he be angry or laugh, there will be no rest.
10The bloodthirsty hate him that is perfect:
And as for the upright, they seek his life.
11A fool uttereth all his anger:
But a wise man keepeth it back and stilleth it.
12If a ruler hearkeneth to falsehood,
All his servants are wicked.
13The poor man and the oppressor meet together:
The LORD lighteneth the eyes of them both.
14The king that faithfully judgeth the poor,
His throne shall be established for ever.
15The rod and reproof give wisdom:
But a child left to himself causeth shame to his mother.
16When the wicked are increased, transgression increaseth:
But the righteous shall look upon their fall.
17Correct thy son, and he shall give thee rest;
Yea, he shall give delight unto thy soul.
18Where there is no vision, the people cast off restraint:
But he that keepeth the law, happy is he.
19A servant will not be corrected by words:
For though he understand he will not give heed.
20Seest thou a man that is hasty in his words?
There is more hope of a fool than of him.
21He that delicately bringeth up his servant from a child
Shall have him become a son at the last.
22An angry man stirreth up strife,
And a wrathful man aboundeth in transgression.
23A man's pride shall bring him low:
But he that is of a lowly spirit shall obtain honour.
24Whoso is partner with a thief hateth his own soul:
He heareth the adjuration and uttereth nothing.
25The fear of man bringeth a snare:
But whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.
26Many seek the ruler's favour:
But a man's judgement cometh from the LORD.
27An unjust man is an abomination to the righteous:
And he that is upright in the way is an abomination to the wicked.

5A man who flatters his neighbor spreads a net for his feet.
6In an evil man’s wrongdoing is a trap, but the righteous sings and rejoices.
7A righteous person considers justice for the poor. The wicked one has no such concern.
8Mockers incite a city, but wise men turn away anger.
9If a wise man argues with a foolish man, he rants or laughs, with no resolution.
10Bloodthirsty people hate a man of integrity and seek the soul of the upright.
11A fool gives full vent to his temper, but a wise man holds it back.
12If a ruler listens to lies, all his servants will be wicked.
13The poor man and the oppressor have this in common: Adonai gives light to the eyes of both.
14If a king judges the poor with truth, his throne will always be secure.
15A rod and reproof give wisdom, but a child left to himself disgraces his mother.
16When the wicked thrive, wrongdoing increases, but the righteous will see their downfall.
17Correct your son and he will give you rest. He will bring delight to your soul.
18Where there is no divine vision people cast off restraint, but blessed is the one who keeps Torah.
19A servant cannot be corrected by words, for though he understands, he will not respond.
20Do you see someone hasty in his words? There is more hope for a fool than him.
21If someone pampers his slave from childhood in the end he will be ungrateful.
22An angry man stirs up dissention, and a hotheaded one commits many transgressions.
23A man’s pride will bring him low, but a humble spirit will gain honor.
24An accomplice of a thief is his own enemy. He hears the oath but says nothing.
25Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but one who trusts in Adonai will be kept safe.
26Many seek an audience with a ruler, but from Adonai one receives justice.
27The righteous detest the unjust, and the wicked detest the upright.
